It's already confirmed by both Maurice and Zito that the regular season doesn't really matter. This team is built for the playoffs. To the Panther's organization, a 20 point playoff performer is worth 10x more than a 100 point regular season player. Look at when they traded away Huberdeau after coming off a 115 point season. To any regular person, that move seems like insanity, but it shifted the focus to a "playoff first" mentality. That's what makes this team different. Bill Zito is rewriting the standard of how to build a dynasty in the salary cap era.
It's called managing the salary cap. They do it very well while on a winning streak. These two guys are so confused why Florida isn't worried about 6 years from now. Panthers are winning now biggly and want to keep that going for a few years. Just think about it, just a little bit.
