  1. When an NHL player signs a long term deal, say 8 mill for 4 years. There is always someone in the FB comment section says. Too much money for anyone. The same people say nothing, when a soccer player signs for 4 years 150 million…

  2. Oilers are the model of how to never win the cup…Top 4 Stars eat up most of the cap space. The Bag or The Cup – Choose One. Can’t have it both ways. Just my 2 cents

  3. Deadly video. I'm on the fence about liking it. On one hand, it feels deeply satisfying to put the other teams on notice. On the other hand, maybe we should keep our real advantages to ourselves (family, team first, culture… not taxes). I'd rather the rest of the teams and the rest of the players stay ignorant and individually motivated (read: greedy). Works out better for us. Either way though, I think you're the first to coin these Florida Panthers a "super team". It's what they are and I think the moniker is going to stick.

  4. "Are you greedy like Bouchard, or do you want to win like Forsling?"

Obvious response is "I don't know, are you saying you're as good as Zito?"

Takes some balls to answer yes with a straight face, and anyone bluffing will be quickly exposed.

  5. We Cat fans here have been in the trenches since 93.. when we suxed…. theres always been a great fan based even in those bad years. We never had a tax as many states in the US, no tax… So why hasn't those teams taken advantage? Cats have a great model and the players will take cuts to win the SC… Im not saying a third cup, but we will be a team on the Atlantic division to get through if you want to go to the finals

  6. Cats are expected to get a deal done with Nosek via LeBrun but Schmidt is expected to head to market. I still expect to see some type of salary dump move by Cats eventually.

  7. You have to have the culture to take advantage of the no state tax (that isn’t as much of an advantage as people think)

  8. We’re RUNNING IT BACK. Been a fan for 6 years and it’s pretty special I get to cheer for close to the same roster for the foreseeable future.

The “family dynamic” is a lot more fun to cheer for. I don’t want to see a carousel of new players every year.

  9. Nosek just signed 1 year at 775k. We also moved Greer and Gadjovich to Non-Roster, freeing up some more cap space.

Edit: NVM, Greer and Gadjovich were moved back to the active roster

  10. Boston tried this with all taking team friendly deals to win a cup. The Blues put an end to that in 2019 and then the Panthers put the nail in the coffin in 2023. The Leafs are trying to emulate this strat by florida now, but it wont work unless Matthews starts producing in the playoffs.

  11. No state tax. Nice weather. Great fanbase. Great team atmosphere. Great ownership. Great coaching. I'd stay too. You can always cash in after your playing career by being smart with your money. Cup winners will always have a job after the game.

  12. I believe no state income tax teams should lose their right for long term IR. If your star players take less than you can pay to have better role players……which in turn means a better more complete team

  13. You said no no its impossible to sign all 3. I said make it happen…. and they did, like i knew they would. Congrats jaws, many more championships to come.

  14. Has a Montreal fan from Montreal you have to give it to Montreal. We’re becoming a team to be worried about last year. Florida played five times against Montreal. Montreal won all five times so that’s just to show you the character of these kids that are playing in Montreal something is about to change in Montreal and they should be worried about the talent in Montreal is out of this world

  15. Money isn't everything, it's just one factor of many. Florida has a massive advantage in climate and taxes. Why would you want to leave your teammates and city and winning culture to go up to frozen Canada just to have half your salary taken away by taxes? It makes total sense for these guys to take less money to stay in Florida.

  16. I can’t wait to see McDavid’s next contract. Will he take a discount to help the team win? Maybe some NHL players still don’t get it.

  17. It doesn’t break the salary cap just because players choose to sign for less than they could get elsewhere. Florida still has limits on what they can spend—just like every other team.
