It's a one year, try and see..if we are honest with ourselves, it's not Edmonton standing in our way, we will be hard pressed to get into the playoffs, all reports from Edmonton, he was very well behaved in that locker room.
Evander is what we need , some grit and ability to score.
This isn't desperate or dumb.
I think Kane is a good player but I'll never cheer for him. It is clear to me now. The management in Vancouver has no idea how to operate in today's league. I'll be looking for the Vegas odds to bet as much as humanly possible against the Canucks.
If we bring up all the Abby Canucks, Kane might be a good tough leader for them to follow. But very double edged. I don't like it.
Not a bad trade at all. Would I have liked to see Edmonton keep some salary,,, for sure. But a 4th round pick that will most likely not make it to the NHL is not bad to me. He will most likely get atleast 20 goal and he stands up for his teammates. He gets under the other teams skin and is a playoff player. He will be a great and cheaper replacement for Boeser. He does more then Boeser. Has more aggression then Boeser which you need. Look at Florida who picked up Brad Marchand. Great teams have that instigator
The more I think about this trade, the more I like it. First of all, Kane's "locker room issues" were from a decade ago. We haven't heard anything since he was picked up by Edmonton. Second, he's scoring 24 goals as a 3rd liner at 33 years old and with one year left on his contract, he'll likely be resigning for less than the 5mill. Third, when I think about his grit on a line with Petey's finesse, I see ice opening up and two scoring threats on our top line. Down side? I see none. We gave up a 4th round pick for a proven scoring winger with grit and speed.
With not many great Free Agents available this year, if you think of Kane as a Boeser Replacement it buys us another year at a lower cap hit for only a 4th. He may even have good value as a rental mid season.

Not a desperate move at all. Boeser is leaving and Kane is a cheaper replacement. Brings more then what Boeser does. Boeser is just a scoring sniper that doenst score that much. Boeser sucks without Miller. Kane get around the same amount of points with anyone. And its only for a year for a 4th round pick.. oh and the Canucks arent done.
I don't mind this trade, low risk for 4th round draft pick and only 1 year left on contract. I take it as a 1 year "rental" on a contract year as a 1 year replacement for Boeser for less AAV until Lekkerimaki develops further until a top 6 winger. If he doesn't work out, I'm sure we'll get more than a 4th rounder back for him to a playoff team at the trade deadline by the end of the season.

There are way less expensive goons to have gone after. Kane is way past his prime.

This deal did not come from nowhere. Everyone knew Edmonton needs cap space and Kane on his last year was at the top of the list to go. A hometown Vancouver boy who will want to bring his best to get resigned here or elsewhere. Anyone i talked to could see this deal coming but not you guys? Calling this a desperate and dumb deal is ridiculous. Why would we not make this deal???

Kane ran out of gas in the finals with not playing all year and then stepping into the fire of the playoffs. Edmonton got beat by a much deeper and talented team you can't lay that on Kane.

This trade gives them some toughness because the 'nucks are not the most belligerent bunch. When Kane plays the way he can he is effective. He's more of dummy off the ice.

Holy crap people. You all complain that we need toughness and grit, Canadian boys…. They go out and get grit and you complain. This guy wants to be a Canuck! The Canucks get a top 6-9 forward for a 4th rd pick. Also to say Mason Marchment is better then Kane is a stretch. Mason went for a 4th and a 3rd. This is a great short term move that I think will pay BIG dividends. Now on to the other moves. This is going to be a tough team to play against….

Not gonna comment o whether the move helps the Canucks, but for sure it doesn't help the Oilers much. His cap release isn't even enough to cover Draisaitl's AAV bump. Edmonton lose a big player but can't afford to bring in anyone else in return.
kane is exactly what we needed. someone who will punch you in the face if you mess with quinn hughes. and he doesnt have to be stuck on the 4th line like most goons.

Our team and fanbase if full of soft pansies… this is one of the tougher players in the NHL who can play the power game in the top 6, he's not afraid to get dirty, and if he sees something he doesn't like he's gonna do something the opponents won't like. We already kept petterson after his drama and most of the fanbase was fine with that, at least this guy shows up in shape and ready to play hard

You can tell his value has hit rock bottom. Oilers giving a a 4th rounder for him. Good dump by Oilers , poor pickup by Canucks
