  1. The last time a team traded out of the top 5 was 1993

    The Hartford Whalers acquired the 2nd overall pick in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft through a significant trade with the San Jose Sharks on June 26, 1993, which was the day of the draft itself.
    Here's what the trade involved:
    Hartford Whalers received:
    * The 2nd overall pick in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft (which they used to select Chris Pronger)
    San Jose Sharks received:
    * Sergei Makarov: A veteran, highly skilled Russian forward. The Whalers had actually just acquired Makarov from the Calgary Flames a few days prior, indicating he was likely brought in specifically to be part of this trade package.
    * Hartford's 1993 first-round draft pick (6th overall, which San Jose used to select Viktor Kozlov)
    * Hartford's 1993 second-round draft pick (45th overall)
    * Hartford's 1993 third-round draft pick (58th overall)

  2. One of my favourite things about Marco is when he shuts down “pundit” talk as what it is: fans on the internet saying silly things. Slaf is locked in place. I don’t even get how people can even think about it considering his potential. He’s friggin 21.

  3. Do you think Montreal can pry Shergachev away from Utah? I would give up Hutson, Struble pick 16, and Kappanen. I'm dreaming again of course 😂

  4. If they would take Dobson for their pick (good offensively but defensive liability), why wouldn't they take Mailloux (good offensively but defensive liability with physicality and grit), a second and our Calgary pick for #3?

  5. Kent Hughes gets put on a pedestal, and his moves have been 'meh'
    Dach, Newhook , Reinbacher etc etc
    Now we have a talent like Demidov , still a team of smurfs, and nothing but a Laine , Dach to mentor him lol
    Cool he got the team some draft picks, he isn't making anything happen with them to this point. Blueline is still weak, still no 2C , team is still too small.

  6. Love the content, really enjoy Marco's insights. One thought regarding video quality… I suspect both feeds would be better at 720p because you display at half screen and it is still HD but requires much less bandwidth on the uplink. If you are already set up that way then oops 😊

  7. The NHL is by far the most conservative league in major sports when it comes to player movement. So I really don’t expect anything earthshaking this week in terms of trades.

  8. I would only trade Slaf for a young 2c like Byfield or Mactavish I would do that giving us two good duo’s and then it’s easier to find wingers.

  9. What is it with people wanting to dismantle the top line left and right? Caufield to that team. Slafkovsky over there. They were one of the best lines in the NHL in the last months of the regular season. That's the only line with chemistry and producing points. Break them up? Why ? So the other lines can go from scoring nothing to scoring even less?
