Trading K'iller & Soucy gets you near 10 mil. Where do the Rangers go from there? Can sign Gavrikov & promote Robertson. Have to offload Brodzinski, Parsinnen & Kaliyev too. We have young wingers that need spots that those guys take up. Two potentially good centers coming up are Laba & Roobroeck who will need more time with the Pack.
Robertson has both size, grit and potential… yet almost every time he was called up, he just sat as a healthy scratch. Only got to play when the season was lost.
Major problem the Rangers have is trade mania – when they neither assess nor develop guys they've already got.
Nor do they sanction/penalize the soft, the nonperformers, the quitters.
There are at least ten teams that are trying to get a second line center and another ten that need a number one defensive man. So unless we are willing to trade a handful of young prospects and picks it's very unlikely to land one. We could have a shot at signing one. But we are talking about seriously over paying. And I mean over! Eight years at 7-9 million for a d who's really not a superstar. 🏒
