If true, firing was justified. Benching should have been handled differently. But with 3 goalies, DB made it difficult.
To be fair Torts had that feel of power because the flyer allowed him to feel like he actually had this power. The front office allowed this to brew with the way they let him operate from the beginning. Both Torts and York were wrong. But the front office is as much to blame for it
I also think the Fedotov situation is part of it. They wasted their last call up on Kolosov who isn't going to play.
My opinion is that being reactive is usually bad; being proactive is good. Brière should set boundaries, clarify when and how they get disrespected, and NEVER let anyoneâwhether a player, coach, or even the mascotâcross them. Keeping your house in order is what a good GM and front office should always do. Doesnât matter what was saidâeveryone should know their place, their responsibilities, and their rights.

I would assume torts said the bury comment first, then York hit him with the being there longer comment. They said torts went off on him then got personal and York finally snapped back

Torts always talks about how he wants pushback from his players. He actually called out York publicly for not doing that back when he sent York down during training camp in his second season. Torts is a hypocrite and good riddance.
Speaking of diminishing a players value, Torts did the same thing to Kevin Hayes, a player who was an all star and having the best scoring season of his career. Torts tanked his trade value.

Torts must have had supreme power to be able to have York benched for a FULL game AFTER he was fired!
If a coach tells a player that he will do what he can to prevent him from succeeding, that is the exact opposite of what a coach should do. Torts deserved to be removed from the organization that 100% depends on the success of the players. It's that simple.
GM doesnât know what heâs doing. They used Torts to get rid of toxic Hayes, but with softy York not. Yorker is a softy & needs to go.
As a Flyer fan I really hope they do not resign York. It was also time for Torts to go.
