Just get a room with Karlson and get it out of your system. Ffs.
Retiring Fleurys number does not open up that possibility for Kunitz an Dupuis. There's really something wrong with you if you think it does.
DK, where you get all this hockey statistics?
What has l e t a n g actually brought to the Penguins the last 4 years, I'd say not much… And I know for a fact that outside of Pittsburgh He's not highly regarded as a top defenseman for many years now
👻
The last time Karlsson or Letang had any juice left in the tank was several years ago. To say either are a top defenseman was a long time ago.
The Panthers are the 2016 Penguins in terms of forechecking and speed…only difference…and a new trend in the NHL if you can see the last four cup winners, is they are with the exception of 2 guys over 6'2"….big guys who skate well…just like Vegas when they dominated, just like Tampa and just like the Blues….big guys who can skate…..keep that in mind as the Penguins currently under Dubas are picking up smaller guys who are fast skating….the Penguins established a trend in 2016, that trend has been updated…and Dubas has continued to get smaller sized guys, not entirely adapting to the trend possibly…not saying it can't work…but what made Vegas, Blues, Tampa and now Florida dominate, and what makes Panthers effective, is not just their speed…its their size…Vegas had a blue line that was all over 6'2"….speed and skill is at a high demand…but size matters….the ability to engage physically matters.
Some advanced stats for the Karlsson and Letang narrative: Karlsson v Letang…Letang 23rd, Karlsson 25th in expected goals for in the league, that is with Karlsson having more shifts started in offensive zone…Karlsson, more high danger shots against, few hits, more turnovers than Letang. Letang more shots blocked, Letang produced more goals from shots by rebounds created (shot placement), Karlsson better goal differential above expected.
Fluery is top 5 all time. Best of the best. Retire the number in Pittsburgh
