“My Biggest Pivot? Being homeless. Experiencing that, growing up having to really be humble, having to sacrifice and look at things from a different point of view. Not feeling like I ever fit in, I always feel like I had a lot of time to look inward.” Josh Jacobs.
In life, we often see the end result of success but never understand the story of what one endures to achieve it. Perseverance often makes the difference between success and failure, and this conversation is about a young man overcoming obstacles to find himself on an unlikely path that reveals his greatest gifts.
While in Green Bay for the 2025 NFL Draft, Ryan, Channing and Fred sit with Packers’ star Running Back, Josh Jacobs for an unfiltered and deep conversation about his journey from sleeping in cars to a feeling of never fitting in to becoming a first-round draft pick and a Pro Bowl player.
Jacobs opens up about his challenging upbringing, how football became his escape, the mental battles and emotional turmoil he faced even after making it to the league. Forging a life-long close bond with his father who raised him and his siblings, Josh talks about the unconditional love and gratitude he has for his family and finding the ability to forgive his mother after opening up on the burdens of their relationship.
As an underrated high school player, Josh’s football talents took him to Alabama where Josh was one of the best backs in college despite being third on the depth chart, having to prove himself day in and day out. He shares his pivotal point in ball and how Nick Saban played an intricate role his football career pushing to the next level and how he learned growth and discipline through football.
He shares the truth about contract negotiations, his thoughts on the running back position being devalued, his mindset after leaving the Raiders, and how he stays grounded in a world that constantly tests him. Josh reveals the pain he feels for his former teammate and close friend Henry Ruggs and how he hopes young people learn how one moment and one choice can alter life’s direction. And of course the guys ask him about the talented roster in Green Bay as Josh raves about his quarterback Jordan Love, his head coach’s leadership and what the team is working towards for the 2025 season.
This is more than a sports story and far beyond football—it’s about resilience, growth, and finding purpose beyond the game. Tap in now for the full conversation and don’t forget to subscribe and comment to share your thoughts on the show.

500 yards crazy 💀💀💀💀💀💀 I can't even get that on madden
Aye shoutout to Ruggs I hope he gets another shot. At the same time it makes me think about Cap. If Ruggs gets a shot which I hope he does. then Cap should’ve that’s crazy
Packers was really playing Eagles the best we almost there! Play freely inside the scheme is what make great player!
Having to become an Adult before you actually become an Adult… Has got to be some Surreal Ish!
THEY SHOULD OF ASKED HIM ABOUT THAT TIME HE CRASHED ALL DRUNK AND HAD THAT BIG OH GASH IN HIS FACE??COME ON NOW!!!!
Jonathan Taylor
Facts "everything happens for a reason" true believer. Go pack go, go pack go.
If you believe Barkley playing the victim then you can believe Brandon Marshall. Giants were willing to match the market, but was told to raise up and match a rival. Time to Pivot from someone trying to leave and lying about it.
Best interview on this channel to date. What a fantastic person.
JJ ALL DAY! GO PACK!!
Great episode
yoooooooooooooooooooo
Love me some josh Jacobs since BAMA 🐘❤️🏈
That’s my boy, Josh❤
Please stop allowing Channing to ask questions 🤦🏾♀️
Used to call Josh the battering ram at BAMA. He was one of my favorites.
✅Loved this episode, the Pivot Podcast never misses!
Can y'all PLEASE interview Xavier Legette. He has an AMAZING testimony like many of your other guests. 🙏❣️
They got the best intro theme song ever
Played with his brother in juco, some of the most genuine humble dudes I’ve met 💯
Aaron jones ‘ Jordy Nelson ‘ Eddie Lacy
Josh is such an inspiration to others. Contrast Josh and Shedeur. Illustrate the differences between being hungry to succeed in NFL vs being entitled and thinking and acting like you are better than you are.
Henry Ruggs doesn’t deserve a second chance. You made the choice to drink and drink so more. Nobody forced you. I hope the NFL is smart and bans him. Or they’re going to face a lot of backlash.
Man, I always loved Jacobs and miss him so much at Alabama.
Love JJ❤ he’s been a dawg before bama and I am glad that he played for Alma. Appreciate all your hard work ❤❤
Raiders 💀🏴☠️
Im Vikings fan and I gotta say Josh Jacob’s is one of my favorite RBs in the league
great episode!
And another one 💯💯💯💯👍🏾
As someone who lived in Summerlin. He’s right about Vegas. If you live out there you don’t be in the strip like that.

Man I’m so sad the raiders didn’t pay Josh. Wish him the best in everything he does though 🙏🏽
SMH, I never understood why the Raiders didn't pay him? Every game I watched he played well, if not extremely well and is definitely one of the Best RBs in the NFL.
I learned that ranking system was Trash and Very Suspect when the #1 player went to my school and he was VERY unimpressive – I've seen more amazing talent where I was from that didn't have anywhere near the ranking or nationwide accolades that he had. Note – I went to his place and saw that #1 Player of the Year Trophy in person, it's huge and heavy (pause).
Great interview, I'm so happy he comes across well and I ended up liking him even more after this interview!
Yeah no. Ruggs belongs in a cell for the rest of his life. Killers dont deserve to have the life of a professional athlete.
Respect to the Father for taken the responsibility for his children..I see no one given his father the love he deserves. Imagine if the story was about the woman in the Father shoes every body will be Praising her for taken care alot of children by herself. Give the Father his Respect. He real step up to the challenge taken care of kids with no woman to help him..
The life of a man that never felt a mother's love. That's why he is the way he is.
I still wear my Jacobs raiders Jersey
