  1. Malkin was a great player but Montreal needs to stick with the young guy plan. Don't waste time and money on an older player's history. So many teams have fallen into that trap. Laine has been ok but don't press your luck.

  2. Malkin would be a great fit….hes got 1 year left….just enough time to get dach back on track….but at what price ?

  3. "Probabilities is real math and th eHabs have only lost 1 game in their last 12.This means they will lose likely more often than they will win ending the season. So 11 games left I can easily see a 4-7 record give or take a tie.The math says that would still only be 8 losses in their last 23 games of the season and that would be pretty good.

  4. Great Habs content as always. It still remains a big question mark on how we will acquire a 2C. Would trading both our 1st round picks along with a defenceman and prospect get the job done?

  5. A UFA center signing is an option, are there any available? I wouldn't trade any high draft picks whatsoever for one.

  6. Im very excited to see what Laine can do with demigod on the other wing with a real center. Malkin might put their production ahead of our top line

  7. why would the Habs want Evgeni Malkin? might as well become a paleontologist and start digging fossils up at that point.

  8. Montreal doesn't have a 2nd line center but Demidov has expressed interest in playing center so he might be the answer to this question but if not, make a trade for Sydney Crosby. Montreal has the draft picks, Crosby would love to play in Montreal, he'd be a great addition between Laine and Demidov and would teach the rest of the players so much. Montreal doesn't have a center in the system yet and Crosby is still good for at least 2 more years, probably more.

  9. Hughes said he would be looking for a quality centerman that would be able to be with the team for a long time .
I would look into teams that are declining and/or heading towards a rebuild . Habs have a truck load of draft picks and young prospects to offer .
I’m anticipating a bold move at during the draft this summer . It will be interesting to see how this unfolds .
Such an exciting time to be a habs fan !

  10. What? Why Geno seems like hes ready to head back home tbh and hes always an injury risk so for the price it would take i cant see how this would be worth it

  11. This may sound like a conspiracy theory, but I think our hunt for a 2c could revolve around if McDavid wins the Cup this year or not.

My theory is that McDavid will leave as a UFA after next season if the Oilers don’t win a cup by then, and Montreal might be a very attractive destination. If you’re McDavid, you don’t want to join a team that has to shed major assets to join them, you want to go to a team that is close to having the available cap space so you’re really juicing the roster.

Also, if you’re McDavid, you want to have opposite of Crosby’s career, win an all your championships in your 30’s and still be on a contender when you’re 38. And to do that, you’re gonna have to be on a team that has strong culture and great asset management, and those are the Habs greatest strengths atm.

If I’m Kent Hughes, I’m not making any major moves in the offseason if the Oilers don’t win this year and setting our team up to be a real player in the McDavid sweepstakes.

  12. Russian hockey has this play they make were they try to syphon money from teams in the NHL to get the players released or make things easier for them or outright buy them from the Russian leagues.

  13. Crosby to habs would be the sexiest thing to happen in the nhl ever sports networks would be handing out cash to show habs games although unlikely he’ll probably stay in pit wow it would be exciting

  14. The word is the Anaheim ducks are in financial trouble , if I were Hugues I’d go for McTavish . Mctavish checks a lot of boxes for the Montréal Canadiens , he’s a lefty , great on faceoffs, plays a 200 foot game , was Mr clutch in junior and has more points than Suzuki at the same age . Call the ducks and make this happen , if not , sign him to a large offer sheet 8.5 over 7 years .

    Reinbacher , Roy , 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder for McTavish
