Not a hand pass. You are allowed to hand pass the puck in your own zone. If he picked up the puck in the neutral or attacking zone it would have been whisled down.

Brave thing to expose your back and risk getting drilled to the boards head first.
Since we are talking about somewhat obscure rules, hereโs one. If you are offside and your opponent brings the puck back into their own zone. You are no longer offside and donโt have to clear the zone. As long as they bring it back in purposely the offside is negated and you can pick up the puck or forecheck.
As long as it was against the caps i would be okay with it because I hate hate hate hate hate hate the caps even though I live i Washington but i like the rangers
