Mikko Rantanen & Taylor Hall TRADED To Carolina Hurricanes & The Avalanche get Martin Necas & Drury!

In A Shocking trade The Carolina Hurricanes acquired Star Forward Mikko Rantanen & Taylor Hall From the Colorado Avalanche and Chicago Blackhawks for Martin Necas, Jack Drury and 2 draft picks.
This was a bold move made by the Avalanche as they lose one of their best players who was a 40 and 50 goal scorer and over a 100 point getter because of his asking price of 14 million plus on his next contract. The Carolina Hurricanes by far won this trade as they get Rantanen and Taylor Hall in this deal and bolster their group of forwards.

  1. Yeah this one really hurts…hopefully he doesn't resign but the Canes might have jumped to the front of the line of eastern conference contenders

  2. Crazy trade for sure. Canes and Avs both made out well in terms of what they're pursuing (even if we don't understand why they would move a guy like Rantanen right now… maybe there's more behind the curtain to it). But I'm fully on the "how is that all Chicago gets?" train. The save about $2M in cap space by moving Hall and taking half of Rantanen's cap hit in a season where they're not buyers for the playoffs and all they get is their own 3rd Rd pick back?! They're doing a favor for both teams to help them pull off their cap mathematics and they don't even get a 2nd out of it? Or a prospect? Or a 3rd and another pick of equal or later rounds? Or a bag of pucks? The only way this makes sense to me is if they're going to go after a trade for someone to play with Bedard that still has term on their contract that can be a bigger contributer than what Hall was providing. IDK who that would be that they could be hoping to snag heading to the trade deadline but right now this is just baffling.

  3. This deal is a disaster to Avs and their fans. Both mentally and playwise too.

This deal improves Canes' shares . How much that will ne seen.

Martin Necas is a good sniper type of forward. Lets c if he can take his position in PP.

If so, damage is bit less. But a damage happened anyway.

  4. Looks great for Canes …. If they can retain him. Otherwise a very expensive rental especially if they get knocked out early – which could happen given their goaltending situation
