For most of the seasons, there’s been an argument that the Vancouver Canucks second-best defenceman has been Erik Brannstrom.
So, why are the Vancouver Canucks treating him like an AHLer?
We break down the Brannstrom debacle on the latest episode of Locked On Canucks, while also getting into notes about Elias Pettersson, Filip Hronek, Quinn Hughes and more.

he doesnt fit in here makes to many mistakes and gets knocked off puck not good defensively
Rather have Brannstrom than a couple of the others
Obviously, the media and fans know d'ck. Branny was simply not good enough defensively. He cannot defend like Hughes
This is a Rick Tocchet thing… He clearly wants a big, tough, team… some will be large predictable defensive tree stumps that can only skate in a straight line with zero imagination. Consider this a forced Toochet rebuild that must include serious trades to make his Dino wet dream move in his direction. I don't think Toochet's vision of building a big mean clunker machine will work in this modern NHL. Skill has been a thing for a decade now… brute-forcing it is old-school and has not worked. Quinn Hughes is slaying it without being a stump. Vancouver is in an odd limbo right now.. Trades should happen ASAP as to not lose the whole season to Toochet's wet dream.
