Piperโs interview with Yanni was great, but the team wasnโt able to convert his frustration into a win or even close to it, which is just a recipe for even more frustration. Like I said in my comment Erica quoted, the Kraken can be too deep for this roster to realistically make the playoffs as soon as THIS SUNDAY. I think Yanni knows that if the team doesnโt turn things around in the next couple days, heโs going to be on the trading block no matter how hard he plays and if I were him thatโd piss me off too.
Micah McCurdy of Hockeyviz very generously has the Kraken at 15.3% chance of making playoffs, and Hockey Reference has them at 12%. But Bulsink has them at 8.2%, The Athletic has them at 4%, and Moneypuck has them at 3.8%. The odds already donโt look good and could look radically worse after this back to back.
I knew this season might be a painful one to watch. Reason; it's time to play all those young guys i.e. Wright, Evans, Kartye, Winterton, et al. If they're going to improve they're going to need playing time. That usually means mistakes and inconsistency. Now with Kokku they have even more youth to build on. We'll see how it goes. Give them time and it will come……………
