Milan Hejduk

Full disclosure I’m an Islanders fan I come in peace to ask about Milan Hejduk. Is his number retired in Colorado? If not should it be?I really liked watching him play as a kid. I thought he was great. I saw a youtube video of him today and got curious, figured I’d ask. Thanks for being a good home for Devon Towes. I miss him so much.

Hedge duck…. He was a huge reason they won a cup… And yes his number is retired….

My favorite Starbucks customer from back in the day! He was always so nice and had a good dad joke ready. 😀

The Mikko Rantanen of the early years. So underrated, always scoring goals and being a superstar, but over shadowed by 2 other guys on his team who were fighting for top 5 players in the league at the same time.

Played every game of his NHL career with the Avs. Played more games as an Av than any player in team history (not franchise history, that’s Mr. Sakic’s record). Nate will eventually pass him, but for now he’s Mr. Avalanche.

  6. Wore his jersey to a Czech bar down in Denver (Did not know it was a Czech bar) and won free avs tickets from the owner!

    Hejduk, don’t make it bad

Take a sad song and make it better.

Miss #23. It’s the only jersey I wear to this day.

  9. Great guy. I played beer pong with him with my buddies once. Anytime we made a cup he said “dude you’re sick!” In his accent. Was a great night.

Thanks so much for sharing all the stories with me. It seems Milan really embraced you guys and the city of Denver. For your part, you all love him right back. Its really cool to learn about. I came to ask if his number was retired, and I got a really cool look into a relationship that I don’t know if many outsiders know about.

As us canucks fan call “the true canuck killer” still haunts me.

I’ll never be satisfied with how they forced him out. He wanted to play another year, but they didn’t renew his contract. He wasn’t even bad that last year he was still producing.

I get that it’s a business and “tough decisions have to be made ” buuuut he wasn’t battling injuries etc. Just felt gross. Much like the Kelly situation. Idk it’s probably just me.

  13. It’s a bit dramatic to call him the Pippin to Sakic’s Jordan, but he was a solid contributor with less airplay than others….until he got the Rocket Richard in 2002/03.
