REPORT: Annunen Signing Multi-Year Extension With Avalanche

Juice locked up for 2 years under $1m. No risk high reward, I love it.

Good for Juice. Sounds like Chris and Joe knew Frankie would retire after this contract and felt ready to pass the torch onto Justus. Says a lot that they’re willing to trust him as the primary backup heading into the playoffs on the back of MacKinnon’s outstanding season. Annunen could very well end up as the starter after this 2-year deal is up!

    EDIT: spelling

  2. I like him on first shots the last few games. He is still and calm before the shot. When there are rebounds or he has to push side to side, he’s not the fastest or most athletic

Goalie development is weird, some guys break out from nowhere, some take forever to reach top form, some get it and lose it, and a few stay up top for a long time

I like giving Juice time and space to grow. Idk if it will work, but I am sure I’m not smarter than Cmac

  3. RIR (rest in retirement) Frankie, thanks for the memories!

He’ll be starting before this one’s up, I fervently believe.

Someone’s gotta be the first Avs-drafted goalie to make an all-star team, right? right?!

~$1 million from our backup goalie can now be spent elsewhere. Good work management. Good work Juice for earning the job.

  6. I was expecting him to be the backstop officially next season already but not getting a goalie at the deadline basically confirmed it.

They didn’t want to be saddled with a veteran backup that has term left and couldn’t find a rental ufa they liked.

If this organization actually figures out how to develop Goalie prospects the league is absolutely cooked

He’s a great goalie. Little did you know he holds the record in Finnish Liiga for not letting a goal in for 302 minutes and 5 seconds. And he was only 19 when he made that record.

  9. Makes sense, he is showing he is capable, we just need to continue using him over throwing him back to the AHL, we have what like 2 years left on Georgiev? Use those years to get Annunen ready to take over

I wonder who we will pick up once Georgie’s contract is up?

Really sad to learn that Frankie is likely done, but I suppose that makes sense given how little we’ve heard about his situation. Definitely glad to have Justus locked up for a few more years. I’ve really liked how he tracks the puck and I’m sure with more NHL seasoning he’ll be even better next year.

I’ve been a big Annu fan since he had that monster season in the Finnish league as an 18yo. Guy has the potential for sure, he’s got a great future if he can keep working and each or even smash his ceiling. I can’t wait to see what he can do
