  1. I was there. Refs were pure steaming BS the entire night.
Intentional elbow to the head and the player receiving the penalty gets called for coincidental 2.
    Garbage officiating the entire game.

  2. Kid's gotta calm himself. All about himself out there. Hurts his team. "People pay to see me play!" What a clown. No they don't, ego boy.

  3. Homer announcers always crack me up. "Elbow to the head" seriously? LOL hughes ducked down like a pussy when he saw the hit coming. The elbows didn't come up, jackass.

  4. Looks like he thought he was gonna get hit in the head so he ducked it only to be hit in the head. Really just a dumb play.

  5. A bunch of couchpotatoes commenting here that never played hockey. First if you get ellbowed to the head ofc you get angry. And why would Hughes drop gloves against Arvidsson? Its not hes job to fight! And then a blatant missed holding called against him by the same rat player. Why wouldnt he get mad and frustrated?

  6. Tbh the first one is fair, there's no height excuse for Arvidsson to hit him that high and the Devils should have been on the PP in some respect. But stopping in the middle of play to complain to the ref is unacceptable even if they blew a call. It's just not a good look

  7. The initial hit by Arvidsson made contact with Hughes' arm, and the follow through ultimately hit his head because Jack had lowered his body. Not a dirty hit at all by Arvidsson, nor do I believe he had any dirty intentions. He's not that kind of player, and this was his first game of the season coming off of back surgery.

As for the breakaway for Hughes, yes, it should've been a penalty. It looks like the stick of Arvidsson does get into the gloves of Hughes, and that's a hook. No doubt about that.
I'm not surprised that it wasn't called though, as the officiating in this game was terrible overall. A plethora of phantom calls and no calls plagued this game for both teams. It was a pick and choose kind of night for the referees. Case in point, Hughes not getting a penalty (or a 10 minute game misconduct) for throwing his broken stick on the ice afterward.

The most important takeaway from this game, is that Jack is immature, and still has some growing up to do. His attitude was not something you want to see from a leader. He's still young though, so hopefully he grows out of that naturally over time.

  8. He was pissed bc no PP on elbow to head and then no penalty when guy was draped all over him on the breakaway and then he missed the wide open net in a must win one goal game. That miss and being piased at himself was why he slammed his stick as much as anything else.
Also: “People pay to see me play” was taken out of context. Right before that he said do you wanna get paid to hurt people?

  9. Hughes is a talented offensive player, but is still hot garbage defensively and on face offs. And let’s be clear, not a single player in the NHL is physically intimidated by Hughes.

  10. Not a fan of either team… But ChasingtheBiscuit sure is showing some bias with that title lol the dude had every right to be furious with the no call

  11. Huh … one of the Hughs brothers having a tantrum??
    No one here is surprised.
They won’t drop the gloves even when they sit down to pee.

  12. Goes after a player cause he knows the refs won’t let nothing happen, showed Zegras up on this one

  13. Tiny Jack is exactly the type of player Torts was talking about this week. Spoiled brats who think that they should have the world given to them without earning it. Shut it, Jackie Boy and sit down!!!!!!!!

  14. hughes did get hooked on a break away in front of the net and ref, guess this chat is as blind as the zebras , what a shame.

  15. Hughes has one freak out all the sudden hes a "baby" and "immature" goes to show most NHL fans are casuals lol 😂 🤡

  16. Bunch of fairweather Kings fans in the comments I see. Arvidson knew EXACTLY what he was trying to do leading with that elbow up like a bitch.

Sincerely, not a NJ fan ~

  17. Are some of you people kidding me!!! Where in that hit is anything dirty??? Little Miss Sunshine Hughes seen him coming, so he decides to duck down instead of just taking the hit to make the play!!! Then the color commentator says it should have been a 4:00 elbowing penalty!!! Our country’s sport is going to shit!!!! You can’t even make a nice open ice hit anymore without the other team, coaches and fans coming apart at the seams!!! And then Hughes flat out gives up on the back check to give it the ref because superstar missed a wide open net!!! Then snaps his stick over the boards and throws it on the ice during the play because he is having a fit like a 4 year old. Good guy to wearing a letter on his jersey. What a joke!!!

  18. As a Devils fan, I am embarrassed with Hughes. Tiny little timid man … something that is becoming way, way too prevalent with young American players. All three Hughes brothers, Zegras, Novak, Gaudreau, the list goes on and on. Patrick kane, for all of his offensive skill, set back USA Hockey decades because that's who these tiny fuckers idolized.

I'd agree with everyone on the "hockey has changed" thing if it was other nations too. That fucking guy Juraj Slafkovsky in Montreal is 19-years-old and afraid of nothing. You also still need to win 16 games in May and June in this league.
