This is it. If it was the Panthers or Sharks do you really think their papers would even write about it? It’s about making a statement

Are we seriously talking about this now? Intent to injure after a goal, essentially after a game? Morgan Rielly can’t get enough of a suspension for what he did. If it was someone with a history they might be looking at 20 games, it was that shameful of an act. Imagine if Torres or Cooke did this, they’d be gone indefinitely because it was a pathetic, non hockey related play.

If Brendan Dillon gets 3 for having a short guy run into his shoulder ,
Maybe 6 is appropriate for a deliberate attack to the head

I was going to have an honest response to this but seeing the comments from Leafs fans here yall are fucking lost there is no hope at all.

Parros doesn’t run the department of player safety. He runs the department of public relations. He dishes out very brief suspensions for dangerous plays that fly under the radar, so his bosses can say that hockey doesn’t have a violence problem.

But every now and then there’s too much publicity and the general opinion judges the offender harshly. Then the hammer must fall, and Parros gives a short suspension instead of merely a very brief one.

Yes, it’s fair. You shove Leafs shit in everyone’s face you get consequences.

I do think there’s some truth to that.

There is massive media attention in Toronto.

And the local guys are meshed with the national guys, and the national guys do local work, and the #1 HNIC booth is also the Leafs regional booth (on SN) and as a result, it all gets magnified and debated and discussed and beaten to a pulp

So of course all that coverage makes a difference . Probably shouldn’t, but it would be hard to say it doesn’t

That said, a cross-check to the head after a goal is never gonna go down well with player safety.

I still think, given Rielly’s history, it’s like a 2,3-game ban. But i have buddies out here (Vancouver) who says it’s exactly like Perron, who got six games.

  8. They’d cry foul all year if Matthews took the same hit.

It was dirty, and the epitome of what a soft team thinks playing hard looks like.

Outside of Leafs homers and neanderthals who think the reward for not keeping your head up all the time should be brain damage, everyone thinks this is a dirty hit and should be punished accordingly.

By this logic though, every time a Leaf is a **victim** there should be a huge suspension.

Instead it’s more like the opposite.

  10. dylanisbored

Perron got 6 and it was in retaliation to Larkin getting cheap shot and knocked out, this should be more than that imo.

Everyone’s a victim in conspiracy land.

Toronto Media unironically calls the city the “Mecca of Hockey” and the fans eat it up. But when something we do gets blown out of proportion we get in our feelings about being popular…

What do you think happens when you’re the biggest fish in the pond? When you blow yourself up, why are you surprised at the response?

Same logic with the hit. Greig fafo’d on the ice against Toronto. Now Toronto is fafoing with DoPS.

    We did this to ourselves.

  13. I doubt it inflates events like this, but could see it impacting more minor things that might get missed or be a fine

  14. The leafs just get attention. All these posts are more about getting upvotes and attention than anything else. When do the senators come up on this sub?

  15. -RayBloodyPurchase-

Perron got 6 games for a similar play about a month ago.

Bettman needs to rid the sport of this street thuggery

Leafs fans: “WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE US?!?”

    Take a look around, dipshits.
