The Pittsburgh Penguins appear to be making a big lineup change in anticipation of the California trip! Hunter and Pat discuss Jeff Carter potentially being scratched and why that’s long overdue. They look at how Vinnie Hinostroza could make an impact on the fourth line and if it could be similar to what Radim Zohorna did to the third line in place of Jansen Harkins. After that, they get into a few Penguins players trying out neck guards and why it’s good for them just to try it out to see if they like it. Could this lead to more players trying them out? They also look at that before ending the show with some news on Mark Pysyk.

Grandpa Jeff is gone no more! Wonder what the updated age lineup average is now?
i need more then get rid of carter in lineup like rackell in top line with sid make more senes cause they both play really well before season start or put him on 3rdline or put big z with geno line
Honestly, I'm absolutely shocked that Sullivan might actually scratch Carter. I had accepted that Carter is gonna be out there no matter what, so I'm pleasantly surprised by today's practice lines. Hinostroza isn't gonna tear it up or anything, but at least he's energetic and isn't gonna just putz around like Carter does.
Hey, we're playing a team Saturday that has a worse record than we do. Things are looking up 😂🤣😁!!!
I hope/expect the dynamic of the 4rd line to change immediately with Hinostroza on it. His speed wins him a lot of puck battles, he gets behind the opponents defense, and he helps on the back check. I see a nice energy / shutdown line in the makings.
Despite no pens hockey, at least we get the podcast
I still firmly believe SynonymForSoggy sounds better.
Jeff Carter being scratched is long overdue and I mean WAY long overdue.
He’s had a great career and no one can take that away from him, but it’s time. I’m looking forward to see what Vinnie Hinostroza can bring, I’ve always been a fan of his game and what he brings.
nieto-accari-hinestroza will be a pain in the butt to play against. they will push the pace and be annoying to the opponents. i would think it would be an upgrade but i cant believe sully will do it until it actually happens.
With Carter being a healthy scratch, the last scapegoat is gone. If the struggles continue, do they finally move on from Sully, or do they blame someone else, and trade one, or more, of the players that have been here since losing to the Caps in 2018? Do you trade Sid, or Geno, or Letang, or Rust, or Guentzel? Or, do you move on from the coach of an underperforming, but highly talented, team?
Love the addition of Damp to the roster here.
Despite my frustration with the lack of willingness to scratch Carter, I had a feeling eventually reason would prevail, and it did. I realize this may not be a permanent solution, and Hinostroza actually has to play better than Carter to stick but it is a step in the right direction. I hope Pysyk does well and eventually gets a call-up. I'm over Ruhwedel. He had a great career in Pittsburgh but he just doesn't look effective anymore and I'm ready for another option to come.
I'm wondering how Ludvig is doing. Hopefully he is doing well in his recovery. Would like to see what else he brings on the bottom defense pairing.
So if Hinistroza has an impact on the 4th line similar to how Zhahorna elevated the 3rd line what will that say about Sullivan? IMO Carter should have been sidelined a year ago and the struggles of whatever line he has been on for the past year are on Sullivan as well as the net result of the team missing the playoffs. Loyalty is for losers as the Knights say. I guess we'll see.
That dude kicked him in the neck on purpose. I urge you to watch the video. Why does the main stream media insist on acting like it was an accident. I’ve played and watched hockey for 30 years and I’ve never seen a play like that before. 🤦♂️
Sam poulin needs called up and stays here for awhile
Your comment "look a little silly" is so wrong. Wear the neck guard. Protection is Not stupid!
