After our opening goal the defense tonight seemed to think the Blackhawks would be caught off guard if we passed the puck right to them and gave them free shots right in front of the net. Just killed any offensive momentum that we had at the start. I’ll be an optimist and say the team was tired after only leaving Canada on Tuesday.
At least we didn’t let Bedard get his first hat trick. Not much else in terms of positives.
Pros: no bedard hattrick
Cons: everything else.
Jokes: the refs crying about hedman abusing them.

If we play every game like this we will make the playoffs. Largely mistake free hockey. Chicago was extremely effective at punishing us for the mistakes we did make, but there is no way that level of chance conversion against would sustain through the entire season

That wasn’t the worst game we’ve played, but that was definitely a nothing game, there was no effort anywhere. At least it was better than a shit day at work
Get Blashill as far away from this team as possible. We had a whole long offseason to get refocused, and we used it trying to implement a worse defensive system with worse players under an AC who was one of the worst HC’s of the recent times when he was in Detroit. I get it, we don’t have Vasy, but that’s no excuse to get outplayed by a bottom-feeder like Chicago. When Vasy comes back we’ll know if it was just temporary bending, or if we’re going to break. Honestly, I think it’s the latter. Even if we make the playoffs playing 6-5 hockey, Toronto owns us in the first round.
Softest ugliest game of the year and an extreme relapse of the meltdown syndrome.
Some bad luck but really felt like a no show.

Our captains and our coaches need to figure out how to get control of these games. Meltdowns make it look like there’s a leadership void.

Cooper needs to change something. This defense is untenably bad. Outside of the back to back shutouts, they have given up 3 or more goals in every game this season. The fact that the points percentage is what it is, is a testament to how absolutely elite Kucherov has been offensively. If he slips from playing at a 145 point pace they’re in big, big trouble.
If this was just Perbix and Raddysh struggling, I could understand it but all six defensemen have been differing shades of hot garbage. I really find it hard to believe Hedman, Cernak and Sergachev forgot how to play defense. There is some kind of disconnect going on and they need to correct it quickly.
