The Leafs are named after the Maple Leaf Regiment. That is why they are Leafs not Leaves.
The Leafs are not a team in the sense that most people think. Normally when you are on a team, you know your teammates will stand up for you just as you will for them. The Leafs have players like Matthews and Nylander who have never stood up for a teammate while wearing the blue and white. If someone told me they never did I wouldn't be shocked. That poisons the team as over time no one steps up. Then you don't have a team but a collection of players.
Toughness cannot be stapled onto a team. Until the aforementioned players are willing to step up for their teammates or are moved no one will step up.
They didn't "let" O'Rielly go, he didn't want to be part of the Leafs and if the rumors are true he blasted Keefe in the exit interview.
The Leafs have pretty much the same record as they did this time last year and they are missing two top 4 defensemen.
Keefe has a long history of rewarding players for putting in zero effort defensively. Why would anyone think players are going to defend for him?

Klingberg needs to play with a rock solid defender. The Leafs need to trade for one. They have needed that defender since 2016 and they sank a bunch of money into forwards to outscore their problems. This is just more of the same.
"The Sens are in trouble." Almost a guarantee the Leafs will play down to their level and lose.
The Oilers haven't been scoring. Their terrible D and goalies have given up 6 more goals than the Leafs. Their forwards have scored 12 less goals. McDavid is on pace for a bigger season to season drop in points than Huberdeau. I'm not saying the goalies have been good but they have gotten zero help from the guys up front.
Maybe it’s time for Treliving to bring in coaches who understand military-style discipline to bring such discipline to this Leafs’ roster to figuratively-speaking knock some sense into players on said roster.

I think this is a huge game for the leafs tonight to be honest the boy need to play Ottawa tonight like they played the second and third vs TB just for a full 60. Stay out of the box stop leaving the goalie out for dry.

You are right David, but we knew that klingberg was not defensive but they bring him in , him and bertuzzi need to go get zadorov and tanev/hanifin then give guys from marlies a chance. The lines are getting there.
