Toronto Maple Leafs look to right ship against Boston Bruins, Senators show Pierre Dorion the door



The Toronto Maple Leafs left a bad taste in the mouth of fans after their loss to the Los Angeles Kings but life doesn’t get any easier as they take on the Boston Bruins. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti look at another surprising start to the Bruins season and why they have been able to achieve sustained success. If the Leafs are going to pick up a win over the Bruins, Mike and Dave look at factors that will come into play in their Three Keys to Victory. They also discuss Connor Timmins return to the ice and how much patience the Leafs should show with John Klingberg this season.     Everybody is Toughening Up
    Toronto needs to Break Up Their Weak Players like Mathews and Marner.
    Nylander is Playing Great with a Proper Line Up around Him
    The Leafs need a Goal Scorer w 4 Checkers to get Him the Puck on Every Shift or they are going to get Run Over this Year .
    They Need 2 more Big Checking Defensemen to help take Nylander to the Cup.

    Every year it’s the same thing in Toronto over Marner. Then he goes on a tear, and we love him. I think we should shut up over it already. He’s a good player, and he’ll turn it around…again. Now let’s go and get Sydorov and Tanev.

    It's long overdue to part ways with Marner. He's going to want ridiculous money next summer (maybe 12.5M x 5), and he's not worth it, since he vanishes like clockwork in the playoffs. No sign he will change his ways, so get what you can for him, while you can.

    Domi, Bert, Klingberg combined only have 41 shots and a +/- of -2, Matthews has the most shots on the team with 40. I think the skills they had before being added are under utilized

    Trade Marner. LOL. When Marner is out the Leafs are a lottery team. They depend on him for everything but goaltending. I must confess part of me would like to see them trade Marner just so people could see what that really means for the team.

    The Bruins are playing playoff hockey in the regular season. The same as they did last year. I don't think that works out for them when everyone else steps up their game for the playoffs.

    The Leafs culture is that of their former GM. Soft and passive aggressive. Treliving is trying to ;change that culture but we will see if he succeeds.

    Keys to the game. Marner finds his game. If he does the Leafs win. If he doesn't… Nope.

    Timmins can't stay healthy. The greatest ability is availability and Timmins isn't available. He cannot be compared to a player who is able to play every game.

    Everyone knew about the Dadonov. If Andlauer didnt' look into it, he didn't do his due diligence. Caveat emptor.

    Reaves. No fight. He should be sitting some of these games.

    if you dont know the culture in Toronto is I can enlighten you. Nobody cares if they win or not. Starts with Shanahan and goes from there down throughout the whole team. You may bad, oh well you might get better. The whole organization is a Joke. I've been waiting 53 yrs. Actually doubt if I will ever see it. Everyone knows what I'm talking about. Actually disgusting

    They won't have to do much their Top pairing D's are out(Grzelcyk/McAvoy). But their success = Top 3 D core and arguably the top goalie tandem. They still have their PK specialists (minus Bergeron) and the main PP catalyst (Pastrnak). They are very much a Defense first / specialty team. The Bruins got INCREDIBLY lucky with Matthew Poitras and look out for Mason Lohrei (should be full time by end of year or next year). Lysell has been dissapointing though… seems like a bust.
