In the first game back at home the Toronto Maple Leafs put up one of their efforts of the season so far in a 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their thoughts on what the Leafs struggled with against the Kings, how Joseph Woll looked in goal and whether he deserves to play the next game against the Boston Bruins. Mike and Dave look at particular areas of the Leafs’ performance in the Good, Bad & Ugly analyzing William Nylander keeping his streak alive to set a new record, Sheldon Keefe’s role in the loss, the newcomers not looking so great and how the fourth line continues to be a non-factor. To end the show, Mike and Dave give their thoughts on the Charlie McAvoy suspension which will keep him out of the game against Toronto, and the Calgary Flames putting the pause on any new contract negotiations with some key free agents.

Woll has been the better goaltender so far. So what the Leafs played like shit defensively in front of him tonight, he still has crazy stats so far. With that being said, they have to get sammy going again. I dont know if hes playing hurt or what, but he sure as hell isn't the same goalie we seen last year.

PP, no excuses. PK. They are playing a lot of players who didn't PK and those players are going to make mistakes as they learn. What regulars are left. Brodie, Kampf, Marner. I think everyone else is new or past their expiry date.
The Leafs needs to a a real top shelf D. As Calgary sinks into the mire, they possibility that can trade for one rises and rises.
Reaves. No one thought Reaves should play 82 games. He should have already been rested once or twice already. If only the Leafs had an employee who could make those decisions.
McAvoy, hope Bruins fans remember this dirty hit the next time Carlo gets his pudding scrambled. 8 games would not have been unreasonable. It is no surprise they only gave him 4 given that Betmann and Jacobs are buddies.
While it can be argued the Leafs blueline needs more than one player, it is important to remember that adding Hanifin would move everyone down one spot into a place that suits them better. One guy would make a huge difference.

I posted on here before that I thought Klingberg was THE worst signing of any team this off season. Also, would the Leafs be a better team if they had fired Keefe ( lousy coach) before the beginning of LAST season and hired either Cassidy or Montgomery. What gives with them keeping him. I don't get it. BLAME THE COACH.
If Woll falters like I expect, Leafs will be tooth and nail to make the playoffs. Seriously.

in 9 games the leafs have been to overtime 3 times and a shootout 1 time, thats 33.33% , the leafs started with the easiest schedule in the nhl again , playing at team from the west coast on a east coast road trip, as we now know for fact the nhl lies about stats , as we all know nylander never got a point last night,but was rewarded one ,the leafs aint as good as you think they are
