Trade Lindholm and Hanafin. They cannot be resigned.
I sure enjoyed watching my first and probably last game at Calgary's Saddledome last season. I can still see myself sitting in the stands on Toffoli's excellent goal by Huberdeau's spinorama move… anyway, glad Toffoli got the hell outa there before it went up in… smoke.
There is a culture problem in Calgary. Sutter was the problem? Not looking like his removal did anything positive other than the silent majority of the team that liked to play for him stopped playing entirely as a protest against the garbage players that spoke out to get him fired. Z said last week we are finding out who wants to be here, and I’m not seeing much hope here for anyone actually wanting to be there. Huby may have potential somewhere but I’ve yet to see it and my patience is running out for him to demonstrate his worth to the team. Kadri is playing like he expects things to be delivered on a plate for him. This team is playing the most entitled sad sack bullshit hockey I’ve seen in years and we have seen some terrible teams the last 4 or 5 years. This is the kind of play that corrupts an organization, look at how long it’s taken Edmonton to adjust their culture (And maybe they have backslid too) but the losses they strung together with #1 after #1 pick is crazy.
Last year it felt like it was 2 teams, Sutters team and then the “new guys” team, they got rid of Sutter to appease the new guys and now they don’t even have someone to vilify, they all suck, and the rot is exposed. I hope Conroy can right this ship, but I really feel this is the start of some terrible years. I told my father last night “today we have a treat, we get to see the Shames and the Coilers see who is the worst Canadian team, and potentially the worst team in the league. I can’t believe we are buying them a new arena, new arena’s are for winners, not this demonstrated garbage.
On paper the team looks good. But they just suck as together. Can't understand why this team can't work. The D core i would gladly take for any of my favorite teams.
When your starting goalie is posting above 900 save percentage and your goals against is above 3.5 per game your team is giving up way WAY too many shots
Flames have a soled group of supporting players ..but seemingly no one taking the lead shift to shift.
An ensemble template where the players respond to doing things for one another would be great here. Such an approach spreads the pressure to perform amongst teammates..the talent is here.
VGK has shaped an identity more by committee in their short history..than relying on a certain few to excel.

Huberdeau and Kadri either need to start putting in the work and put some points on the board or Conroy needs to find a way to punt them both. Their contracts are aging just as bad as sour milk and its not pretty watching 2 player who are making almost 20 million combined a season not do anything.

So Sutter wasnt the problem.
They panicked 2 years ago when they should have seen the gift they were given, they were handed a good shot at Bedard. Instead they signed 2 awful players to horrible contracts in an attempt to remain mediocre. Now they are totally screwed, with those contracts their new arena will be built before they have a sniff at being competitive.
Everybody ignoring Adam Ruzicka, they have to play him more and trade Lindholm and Hanifin
I have checked out this year, Markstroms been great, everyone else looks horrible, get picks where you can, and be done with it.
Probably time the flames started a rebuild.
They did Sutter dirty, now they are being exposed for what they are.

They pinned all their failures of last season on Sutter and the team cut him loose. For this season, they lost a bunch of offense going in so maybe they take a step back…
This is not a good start for the Flames. Markstrom is not the problem, he has keep the team into the games that he played. Vladar is the other story. The big problem for the Flames is work ethic and chemstry of line. It looks like the Flames are having problems of getting the players to play on line with Hubedreau. They need to fine that fit, but that was also the same as last season. As for Playoff, it is too early to say there season is done. But the next 10 are going to tell what direction they are going. Are they going the right direction or is it going to be hard to get the playoff. So lets talked about playoff chance in a month.
This team needed to rebuild after their loss to edm and all they did was quadruple down, and their destined for the basement for years to come. Picking off all the old guys from other teams, kadri, huby, and markstrom, losing gudreau for nothing. I feel bad for flames fans, im 25 and cant remember the flames being anything other than bad or mediocre and now theres no end in sight.
