The Capitals make it two in a row as they take down the Minnesota Wild. It took the shootout, but John Carlson finds the back of the net in the SO and the Capitals get the dub. The scoring started with Tom Wilson and the Dylan Strome scores his 5th goal of the season. It was a great game by the Caps as they went back and forth with the Wild. Darcy Kuemper was huge in net again and the Capitals win. The Caps PP and PK were a strength in this game. Later Dan talks about Max Pacioretty’s status and when we can expect to see him. Later Dan talks about Charlie Lindgren who took the ice today.

Keumper does not give up bad goals, extremely rare, after years of "X capitals goalie would love to have that one back". He brings consistency after missing that for years since Holtby
Well played. ! My man scored first! ❤ #43. Sooo happy to see the lines coming together. Darcy played awesome also! …..A W is a W! 😊….sucks if ppl caught on to KUZY’s shootout play, I love it!
Great call about every game being a blow out! Feel the same!
Way to go CAPS!! It was a solidly played game. I think Kuemper and Fleury were the stars. It's something to build upon. Also, I like what you said about Mantha. I'd like to see him have a big year and play to his full ability. And also, while Ovi isn't a top passer, I think his passing is under appreciated at times.
As to battles in sports, it reminds me of a quote by a World's Strongest Man competitor, Travis Ortmayer. Cry on the dojo, laugh on the battlefield. This is very true. The quality of the training affects the results.
Close games are more intense and exciting. They test a team's resolve. My favorite games are the low scoring games, especially when both teams are playing well and the goalies are standing on their heads. Those are some of the finest moments in sports.
As to Pacioretty, it would be great if he comes back soon but I'm also interested in what they can do and how they jell with the current make up of the team.
Let's go CAPS!!
I just don’t understand Ovechkin’s goal not counting. These offside calls every single game is not good for the league. I grew up with 80s and 90s hockey. I guarantee at least 50 of Gretzky’s goals would come off the board if they were nonsensically calling these offsides after reviewing play in his time as well. Should go back to how it was back then. Every team having a guy on the payroll looking for offsides! Jeez! Making things complicated for fans is the worst thing you can do. Ovechkin should be at 825 now. He’ll be at 830 very soon anyway though. He is getting warm. I think he will be the player we see til he is 40 and score 900+ goals. Har trick vs sharks?
Great game. Big win against a really good team. Kuemper played incredibly well too. Excellent goalie. Top 6 is looking really good. Bottom 6 not so much. I noticed in the 3rd period that the bottom 6 did not play at all, nor any of them were in involved in OT or the shootout. Sitting them down worked for now, but down the road we need to integrate them through a complete game. We'll tire out the top 6 through the season. I mentioned before on these comments about addressing this issue. I think Carbs should bring up Kubel and Sgarbossa, and sit down Protas and Mantha. Gotta try something. What we have isn't working for the bottom 6.
I think we have to take this day by day. I think coming out with a new system deploying speed rather than physicality will dramatically alter play. New schemes take time and its hard to teach old dogs new tricks. I think its about being happy when they win. Being bummed when they lose. But not overreacting on either spectrum. As caps fans not making the playoffs and some struggles in relatively new. Doesn't happen much. But this is a tough league and right now its one game at a time.
Happy for Mantha. Liominh forward to seeing Max on the ice
I think you’re right about them beginning to break out of the funk from last year. Confidence breeds more of the same..
we have had years with mantha, phillips we have had 6 games, i will be disappointed if they drink the "he's too small, wow look how big and strong mantha is cool-aid" playing with pace and playing smart is the direction the caps want, so phillips over mantha is a no brainer to me. pacheretti could be a difference maker, as guys drop due to his return we will have a solid lineup,
we may have to trade a good player like dowd to put backstrum on fourth line.
tom wilson would not be a good captain,he is not disiplined and if he has to be to be captain he will be a lesser player. i like how he is now.mcmicheal may be a better choice in the future.
