3rd Period 20:00 Rasmus Andersson Elbowing against Patrik Laine
This was the end of the game. The game was over. Rasmus didn't do all the wishy washy edge changes because he was afraid Laine might beat him, he was changing his course to make sure he got the big hit, hence why he wasn't bothering to try to play the puck. He was going for the big head shot, and he got it.
It was a reckless play. There was no time left on the clock and Andersson went out of his way to level Laine. He turned saw red and went into attack mode. Andersson intentionally went after Laine's head and it was evident when he stuck his arm/elbow out. Since the DoPS tends to judge plays like this inconsistently, he'll probably get 2-3 games. He should get 5 games though.
I feel like the situation, where the losing team's player is doing this at 0:00 time left in the game, with no chance of ever winning the game or changing any outcome whatsoever, makes it MUCH worse. If you start a fight at 4:59 left of the 3rd period you get a 1 game suspension, a reckless dirty hit in a situation that doesn't ever affect the game should have a 2x multiplier or a +3 game suspension or something IMO
Rasmus is such a great guy too. This was dumbfounding when I saw it live. I’ve met Rasmus…followed him for years. He’s a Norris caliber defensemen but first and foremost he’s a clown. A jovial, dork, presumed lover of fart jokes and all sophomoric humor. He has zero history of anything even remotely similar. His defensive style is significantly less physical than the average player. Regardless…..not cool. The team was extremely frustrated at this moment…..Laine does not need any help disappointing all who dare to employ him. Hope you’re OK ya prima donna. This behavior is to Rasmus as Laine’s character is to 🇫🇮 athletes.
Talk about a low maintenance, self-motivated, reliable and low maintenance bunch…..stereotypes exist for a reason. We can learn two lessons from this
everyone makes mistakes….even the least likely folk.

It was a dirty headshot and im not a fan of either teams. 4 games is appropriate. Its not the timing of the hit, its him jumping and elbowing. Laine was low because he was in the motion of icing the puck when Andersson leaped and hit him.

End of game, gonna lose, extended elbow out and upward with a jump to ensure upper body/head shot. 8 games is appropriate if league wants to start actually doing what theyre saying theyre gonna do. Enough Pietrangelo softness for suspensions, if you want it to stop send a message, 10% of the season.

The only way a suspension longer than five games would apply is if it were Kadri with the elbow.

I don't think suspensions should be higher because someone does a hit with 5 seconds left. it's still during the game
