The Toronto Maple Leafs dropped their second straight game and their first on the road losing 3-1 to the Florida Panthers. Imo Willy Styles is gonna get somewhere between 9.5-10 million..9.7 seems pretty realistic. I think it would be a big mistake to lose him for nothing and your not winning a William Nylander trade, the best you can do is try and get a decent top 4 dman and a middle six scoring forward, but your not gonna replace his offensive numbers. Plain and simple.

The Leafs D. Playing Klingberg and Giordano isn't a long term solution in terms of the minutes Gio can play and the minutes that Klingberg has to play to be worth his salary. The Leafs need a real shutdown D to move people down. McCabe and Liljegrin were fine, as a bottom pair they would be chef's kiss good.
Penalties. If the Leafs don't take penalties then the refs won't call any for them. The Ref manages the game, not call it. Yes, it sucks but there is no point trying to play a clean game if the officials are going to punish you for it. I just wish they would take different penalties, crosschecking, slashing, fighting, roughing.
Robertson, really? In 31 NHL games he has 7 points and he is brutal defensively.
Nylander at 9.5M? OK lets compare him to two other players. Who would you take, Nylander at 9.5M or….

Marner at 10.9M (Keeping in mind that people have been saying that Marner is overpaid for years)
As for Marner's next contract. When Marner plays badly, the Leafs struggle. Marner always starts slow, coincidentally the Leafs start slow. Nylander and Matthews were both bad at the end of last year. It didn't matter, Marner was playing great. When Marner is out on IR, they are a lottery team. When Matthews is out on IR it doesn't matter. Who is your team's most important player, the guy winning individual awards or the guy your team can't win without?
It’s not yet panic time for the Leafs but should they end their road trip with fewer than five points, it will IMO be time to panic. After all the Leafs had played after last preseason 3 games going into that road trip. Quite possibly on wins and regulation, overtime, and shootout the Leafs will end their road trip with an overall 2-6-0-0 record. Should that worst-case scenario pan out, it may be the Leafs will have dug themselves so much of a hole that they won’t come anywhere near a playoff spot.

The Panthers goalie won it!!!! The better goalie won. Samsonov looked better but the 2 goals he let in, he was sceaned. Morgan shooting wide was Wow.I do love Morgan but Man……………if he fanned on the shot I can understand but he did not.

Leafs could easily be 1-3. Again for the 20th year in a row, a mediocre soft defense might get you to the playoffs because you have an offense but past the regular season you're going to get panthered again. They are 27th in the league in scoring 5 on 5.

Another slow start chasing the game and not responding til they went down 2-0. Same issues of not starting on time and a bottom 6 that is lost and useless. Leafs need a stud goalie which they haven't had in 20yrs (Belfour/Joseph/Potvin) and must rebuild the D. As currently constructed this team won't go far and may regress..
