They are already a tough(minded) team that finally landed a bona-fide 1C en route to winning the SC. With their new-found’ confidence, veteran leadership, and two legit goalies in their tandem, not many teams have the depth and overall toughness to grind it out with them in a 7-game series. That said, if Martinez and Pietro are out long term, Vegas’s challenge would be to win without those two multiple cup winners in their dcorp.

It’s easy to think they’re undervalued because they’re the defending champs, but they kind of had a path cleared for them, what with the Colorado’s and Boston’s getting bounced before they had to contend with them.
Sixteen wins are still sixteen wins, and good on them from benefitting from and capitalizing on the opportunity, but there’s nothing wrong with saying that maybe things turn out differently depending on the opponent.
