This will be a 5th year in a row and we are going with Freddy Andersen again, Fire dubas now and hire a real g.m who has been in the game and not learning on the job, Anyway just over the past 4yrs I have been saying trade freddy Andersen now but it looks like Dubas is serious about this Freddy Andersen goalie and this should be the reason Dubas gets fired,
I am Pissed, really pissed but I refuse to accept the crap as a result, Freddy Andersen is not a money goalie and leafs must unload this guy, period,
The problem is both the goalie and defense..
For the most part, I believe that most goalies are only as bad/good/great as their defensive players around them. This seems to be the case with Anderson.
Would be foolish to let Freddie go real real bad they did the same with their backup mcklheney and paid severely for it
Something you may have considered but didn't mention in this video is that this down year is a year that the team in front of him have up on the coach. The team played terrible, the coach got fired, then they surged under the new head coach. Unfortunately the lockdown didn't allow for Freddie to bring his numbers back up, but those play-in numbers under the new coach are telling. The goal tending and the defense got their jobs done. The high-powered offense did not. That's why they lost. Freddie carried them to five games.
Andersen will have a great 2021 season.
Toronto will never win the cup again for the sole reason that their players will never be fully mentally in it due to the absolutely toxic influence and expectations of the media

Any goalie playing for the Leafs will face 40 pus shots a game, a porous defence and goal sucking forwards who couldn't check a suitcase into a hotel.
The Leafs play pond hockey and don't know how to play defence as a team so it doesn't matter who's in net.
Every Stanley Cup contender knows how to play team defence, the Leafs don't.
They try to out score teams 6-5

This year should be better with better defense in front
As a leafs fan it’s not his fault, not close. Yes he hasn’t been great in game sevens. But when the offence dries up he can’t help that. Hopefully this shorter season can give him the rest he needs to be fresh come playoff time. He did have a down year this year yes, but more often than not he steals this team so many games. If he has another down year (not that he’s as bad Martin Jones jeeez) he won’t resign. I really hope we can get past the first round this year for Freddy more than anything.

There are so many leafs fans you can find some saying anything and everything.
I hate the goalie needs to steal a round argument. Then they point at Binnington and say he stole rounds for St. Louis. First of all, Binnington did not steal rounds for St.Louis. Any competent goalie would have won in St.Louis That is the same with Murray and Holtby. I am not taking away their ability, but this is a team game. Jake Allen could've won it too, but he clearly had confidence issues. Also note that all the teams that won a stanley cup in the last decade had a stud defense in front of their goalie. Even Vasi has the best defense in Hedman in front of him. Bob is a great example. He goes to Florida and forgot how to stop a puck? No, just the Florida defense is terrible. But all of a sudden Korp and Elvis are the best goalies. This is a ridiculous take. When I watched the leafs vs Blue Jackets, the defense puts layers in from of the goalie and took away most of the shooting lanes, giving just a few places to place their shots. If you rewatch the game, you'll notice the leafs missed the net quite a bit. And only Matthews, Tavares and Hyman got their chances because they were the only players pushing for position in front of the net. This is because they had nothing to shoot at and those were the shooting lanes Columbus gave them. And don't give me the Pittsburgh argument. Letang is better than any defense on the leafs during their cup run. And when he got hurt, that Pittsburgh team was a super team with Crosby, Malkin and Haglen have a career year with the HBK line (it is not a fluke that this all star team won back to back cups). It wasn't because of Murray. And as a goalie, I know it is tiring to be just stuck in our own zone without any shots against. You still got to cut across, push off and move laterally to follow the play. It is actually less tiring to get a shot and go in the butterfly to make the save. And leafs get hemmed in their own zone quite a bit and they allow the opposition to move the puck a lot, and I know following that is tiring in itself (Next time you watch an nhl game, do 1 burpy everytime the puck is moved in the leafs zone, see if you last the play or the entire 2 minute PK). Note that when players get hemmed in their own zone and finally get the puck out, those players can get a change… not the goalie, he is still exhausted from the play before. After watching Murray and Binnington the last few years, they barely had to move laterally because the TEAM defense in front was so good. Their defense made the opposition's life a living hell when they went near the goalie or in a scoring position. Toronto does not do that. They are not committed to making life tough for players in front of Freddy. Instead, they have their stick checking method which I HATE SOOO MUCH!
How do we measure quality starts vs not??
Get rid of Andersen. He is brutal. He let's in way to many easy goals per game then any other goaltender. He will be the fall of the Leafs AGAIN this year. Keep Campbell as the starter and have Dell back him up (when everyone's healthy).
you can all say hes not bad but truth is he sucks. he has been the problem for years. they will NOT win with him in net. they will not even make it to conf final. hes tony romo, fran tarkenton and jim kelly. cant win the big game. hes way overrated . roy could let in 5 goals in 10 minutes but if the game was 5-5 you werent getting #6. anderson caves. i hate being a leaf fan watching them waste all that talent cause they got swiss cheese between the pipes. anderson must go.
