Facebook gave me one of its “hey, you posted this X years ago today” and it was the attached pic.
Zoom in and look at all the empty seats. Now here’s the perspective : this was opening night, 2014. Opening night. From this to 56k in Carter Finlay is amazing.
Also bear in mind these tickets cost me $0 because things were so bad back then they gave them away.

I remember the dark years, and I’ll never forget them. Just made that series win over the caps even sweeter.
On one hand, it was so nice to go to games for 10-20 bucks. But it was the most depressing arena for years.
I remember getting the emails for the free games and when they came to our school district to offer discount game packages.
I remember getting tickets for $10.27 because it was sponsored by the Radio station.
Double checked and this was the year we didn’t win a single game in October. Also, turns out this was the second home game, not opening night. Still a stark difference though.
And if that’s Buffalo, then I’m sure half the attendance were Sabres fans
to be fair that was a ‘good’ crowd in 2014-2017
I stand corrected, it is the 2nd home game. Apologies. If I could edit the post I would.
The one plus of the dark days was being able to be a full season ticket holder for about $500 on the 3rd level.
Good remember how ugly our home sweaters were in the early to mid 2010s?
