The Minnesota Wild picked up a 5-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens Tuesday night to improve to 2-1 on the season and finish their 2 game road trip at 1-1. The Wild scored 5 special teams goals, including 2 by Brandon Duhaime and Connor Dewar in the first period to take a 2-0 lead. The Wild got Power Play goals from Joel Eriksson Ek and Kirill Kaprizov in the second period to stretch the lead to 4-1. Joel Eriksson Ek scored his second goal of the game in the 3rd, also on the Power Play to cap the scoring. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 26 of 28 shots in likely his final start in Montreal to pick up the win. The Wild head home to face Los Angeles on Thursday.

Small sample size, but I see signs of a first or second line center in Rossi. After a way too large sample size, Hartman does very little to augment KK's or Matts' game.
Such a quirky sport, Wild are now 15-1 in the last 16 against Montreal. This was a much needed game being short on bodies and the way the Toronto game ended. Foligno’s best game by far, EK just being EK, and a great performance from the entire 4th line. The Wild need to ride the storm out as REO once sang and get healthy slowly – getting some more cap space to bring up a Walker. I though I heard Lapanta mention the Wild were -31 million in cap space tonight with Boldy – 46, Goligaski out + the cap hit. Happy for 29, thinking he’s going to get 12-15 wins this year, as you never count out a hall of fame player – they have too much pride.
