  1. They had me last year. After years of watching Tampa Bay hockey, I tuned in to the Wings at the start of last season, until I couldn't take it any longer. This season, I'm watching the Lions and the Pistons. I have next to no faith in this Wings team. It's a good thing Steve is so beloved in Detroit. Anywhere else and they start asking questions about his competence as a GM.

  2. Yzerman inherited nothing but larkin. He’s traded and drafted his way into a solid team. the NHL is a stars league, detroits is larkin. That’s a disadvantage compared to other stars. Yzerman stays. The end.

  3. I’m not exactly sure what we are doing here. Last year wasn’t the year to make a push to get better, I mean, think about our outlook if we were in the top 5 or this past years draft. This year looks to be the same wishy washy type team. We aren’t a lottery team, but we aren’t a complete basement dweller. No elite talent in the pipeline outside of ASP. we sent Berggren, soderblom and edvinsson down in favor of late 20s early 30s role players. I think it’s time to really start questioning the game plan here

  4. Realistically, even though they are a much better team than when Yzerman took over, I don't see them making the playoffs with the competition in their division.

  5. If the Senators make it and the Wings don’t, questions should be asked immediately. The Sens have embraced giving their prospects roster spots and the Wings haven’t, instead giving them to depth role players. We’ll see what happens. I do think the Wings have insulated the team well enough that inevitable injuries will provide the prospects opportunities to prove they belong.

  6. We take the opinion of a group of guys who spend a total of .02% of every show talking about hockey and likely spend less researching the sport? These guys know absolutely nothing. This is 97.1 lions, and Michigan sports radio

  7. I think the Wings will be a 90 point team and still miss the playoffs because of how brutal the division is. I expect them to be a solid squad

  8. Have you seen this division? This division is absolutely stacked. Mike needs to stay in his lane because clearly he is a casual when it comes to the NHL in general.

  9. I don’t think Mike understands how competitive this Atlantic division is. While it looks like the Wings, Sabres and Sens are on the rise, the top 7 teams from last year could finish in just about any order and I wouldn’t be surprised. With that said I think the Wings have the potential to make a wildcard spot, but it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to take not just a good season from DeBrincat and Larkin but also breakout seasons from a few of the younger guys like Raymond, Rasmussen, Edvinsson, Elmer, Berggren, Veleno etc.

  10. No they aren’t. Atlantic division is too deep and teams they’re competing with like Buffalo have much better players at forward and on the back end. Detroit has the ability to be competitive in a playoff series by playing the type of hockey they do but don’t have the talent to sustain them for 82 games and get them into the playoffs. Overpaying stopgaps and only having 2 really good players makes this team average as hell.

  11. Stick to football mike, this isn’t your cup of tea. Leave the wings alone. No one that actually follows the team cares if you’re on board.

  12. I don't think you guys understand the atlantic division. They do need to be competitive this year, but if they miss out on the wild card I won't be worried. Next year is when I would start getting concerned.

  13. The sparty slappies know as much about the Wings, here, as they do about Leaders and Very Best most occasions. Vegas did get that 5.5 wins number a bit high, however.

  14. Guys are are delusional lol. We’re in the hardest division, if we make the playoffs this year it’s a surprise, not an expectation. We have 4-5 prospects down in GR that will make the team in the next year or two. Some with potentially high impact. Next year is probably the year to say this.

  15. daam good question the he🏒🏒with all the non believers! some dipshit has bluejackets ahead of detroit this season this isnt the team of years past with kids n misfits playing out there so 💪them all! 🤷‍♂️🤪🤡💩🤔👎

  16. couple of things…

1 – the non hockey show hosts talk hockey….moving on
2 – Sparty slappy's Mike and Rico betting against their own team to make themselves feel better for the beatdown that will occur in EL in two weeks

  17. The Yzerplan is a joke. We don't have any rookies on a rebuilding team. We don't have any 2nd year players on the team either. Nice rebuild.
