[Johnston] NHL roster report shows Canucks have called up Jack Studnicka. Because of injuries and their cap situation, Canucks played a forward short last night so Studnicka’s recall uses the Roster Emergency Exception in the CBA — article 50.10(e) — meaning he doesn’t have a cap hit.

   Because it’s an emergency recall Studnicka can stay up until Canucks have 12 healthy forwards/18 skaters, so until one of Blueger or Mikheyev is available.

   (He won’t have to go through waivers when he gets sent down again)

   after training camp and last night’s game, somehow “the canucks called up jack studnicka under emergency conditions” actually has me excited, when before it would have filled me with terror

   that being said hope blueger is back for saturday regardless

   Wouldn’t this be an excellent strategy come playoff time? Just have a guy called up for free because of ‘injuries’

   I’m probably missing something, but why couldn’t this have been done before the opener?

   Is it because Blueger was close and they were expecting him to play?
