Rick Dhaliwal, known for his close relationships with player agents, states that Garland did not request a trade; rather, the Canucks feel as if the player would benefit elsewhere while also allowing for more cap space.

Garland is a good player, hope they make a good decision with this situation

Garland is a good player, just doesn’t fit the chemistry of the team.
If we lose him it’s gonna suck because in no way would we ever get a return that equals his current 5v5 value, let alone the cost of his acquisition

Second time this week that we get a “Friedge bomb” with a strong tweet or statement and then the explanation is something simpler we’ve basically known for months.
We know they’ve been trying to move Garland for months (or years) and we know Petey wants to wait before committing. The fact that every Canucks story is so dramatized without context is annoying and it’s getting worse every time.

Man that’s pretty shitty of the Canucks to do this the day before the season starts if that’s true. People were vilifying Garland for requesting a trade the day before the home opener and for making it all about him. Why would the team do this now, or if it wasn’t them leaking this then why did it come out now? Shitty situation overall.

Is this agents working on trades for teams a new thing. I swear I haven’t heard of it until recently.

I like how fans of the team were shitting all over Garland online for ‘wanting out’ and ‘not being a team player’ and ‘ruining the start of the year’ all because of the shitty media.
Just like Friedmans completely irresponsible and made up Petey story.
