It’s finally here! The regular season is about to start and Hunter and Pat are fired up about it. To start off the show, they give their immediate reactions to the 22-man roster and how stunned they are that Radim Zohorna didn’t make the team. They get into how Ryan Shea beat out Mark Friedman and how even the newcomer, John Ludvig, made the team. Of course, this can (and will) change during the season (it may even change tomorrow) so people always have to be aware. They also discuss Jake Guentzel and how he looks primed to be in the lineup on Tuesday night since they’re only carrying 12 forwards (at least for now). After that, they dive into their bold predictions for this season and they have some really good ones. Finally, they discuss what will make this season a successful one for the Penguins.

    i realized against Buf how fast Ellar really is, DOC, the sky is the limit if he stays confident look out opponents

    I'm pretty sure Zohorna being sent down is just a paper move. Tomorrow Dubas will probably waive either Shea or Ludvig and recall Zohorna.

    I'd wager that Dubas is working on a trade, or two, to move a few of the current roster players. Why else would they claim someone who hadn't played an NHL game the day before your season starts, and keep them on the roster?

    I feel Zohorna is going to be called up and maybe one of the d-men specifically Ludvig gets sent down, but either way I feel more comfortable that this team is better prepared depth wise than they were last season. Looking at what is in Wilkes Barre, if someone is struggling up here in the bottom 6 during the season or if an injury occurs, I think they are more equipped to deal with that than last season.

    Pat, I like your bold prediction on Jeff Carter. I listened to Kyle Dubas media session he had this morning and he even mentioned that him and Sullivan had talked about using Carter in a different capacity and him playing a different role. The more I listened to what you said, I tend to have to agree that Carter could easily surprise some people this year, because he's shouldering less responsibility of having to be the shutdown third line center, when the team is trying to protect a lead.

    The Hurricanes are a lock for #1 in the metro, and also an absolute lay-up in the playoffs. I don't think any of their roster additions move the needle from that. The Penguins are the most improved team in the metro and metro teams are probably pissed that they segued from Hextall to Dubas.

    Hunter love the DOC perdiction. Really feels like after this camp he is ready to hit the ground running. I wasnt surprised how well he did on the first line with crosby but i was pleased. I think he will still find offense on the 3rd line.
    Zohorna should be back onnthe roster when they drop a dman. Wonder who stays shea or ludvig? Maybe they give them a few practices to see where ludvig stacks up to shea. I haven't seen anything to suggest shea is all that great and ludvig has some size and grit and physicality that our entire defensive group is missing.

    Also a note, Brayden Yager is off to a hot start with his WHL Team Moose Jaw. I saw he scored two shorties the other night and through 4 games so far, as 5 goals, 3 assists, and 8 points.
