Nemec going to AHL seemed like it was going to happened once we got Miller. Hopefully he’s the first one up if there’s an injury.

I think Foote is injured still and so can’t go be demoted at the moment.
Will be interesting to see who risks waivers once he heals between him and I assume Tierney.

Incredible. Nemec plays his way onto the roster but doesnt make it because his last name isnt Hughes. Tierney makes it despite already being a fringe NHLer having been relegated to the AHL last year and doing nothing in preseason except making it on “experience”.
Team couldve been contenders this year but looks like another “build on last year” year. A fucking shame.

Nemec going down is the right call. Smith was fine as the 6th D last year and will be again this year. Miller looked bad but it’s better him and tierney sitting then one of the young guys. We are contenders now so coaches are going to go with the safer option

There should not be any overreactions to the roster (specifically Nemec).
1) This is literally just a snapsnot of what the roster will look like to start the year.
2) I’d rather start the year with our 3 scratches being players who are vets and fringe NHLers (Tierney, Smith, Nosek)
3) People buy way too much into preseason performance. With that said, there was no way Colin Miller would lose a spot from a few bad showings. He has a proven track record and will be given more opportunity to fit in.
4) Can the season start already? I’m fucking jacked to see this team play. LET’S GO DEVILS!

Being waiver exempt is a key detail for Nemec and Holtz, moreso for Nemec since we have such a fight for the 3rd line.

Not surprised. It’s not like Bahl is a known quantity yet, steadily improving but he is inexperienced. Let’s see how Luke and Bahl perform, and if they are holding up I suspect Nemec will get eased in like Bahl last year.
Little more surprised with Hataaka, he’s been talked up a bit and looked comfortable the bits I saw.
Either way Fitz has been pretty on point with Dmen. I don’t think Marino looked special in preseason last year, but I don’t remember. Either way it took a little bit before we realized how good Marino is.
