Amazing news. Can’t wait to visit when the new arena is ready to go

Inflation/overrun will be assumed by the city. So gondek wanted to renegotiate the previous deal cuz she didn’t want to pay for an extra 80 mil in extra charges but now is willing to pay infinite amount of money?! What an idiot
Edit: CSEC axed the deal but did so because Gondek didn’t want to pay extra charges. CSEC bad, Gondek bad. This arena deal also bad

I’m just happy it seems like they are working on a new design. I was not a fan of the stapler design from the deal that fell through.

Totally not what we should be spending money on as a city right now. The Flames will be here for a long long time and all it took was city council bending over and taking it in the rear.

How will the reduced seating affect things?

Am I reading this right? Because this sounds horrible:
“Baked into the MOU is that the City of Calgary will be responsible for any cost overruns.”

The community rink sounds fun. Does anyone know whether the City will have rights to concession sales and other stuff like that?

Gondek shouldve stuck with the previous deal and assumed the cost overruns if she was going to do it anyways… Seems pretty clear to me that she wanted this project to be her legacy and not Nenshi’s
