he actually got 84 points not 55. If I were them I would give him 3 more years for $21 million equalling $7 million. This dude is almost a generational type player exactly like Ovechkin with the amount of goals he puts up on average around 40 ish on average almost exactly identical to the 50 ish goals Ovechkin puts up on average so this is a guy who the bolts might never get to have again so don't part ways with that product too early. Like Ovi and Crosby his main rivals he should retire with just ONE team.
Considering they're almost 7mil over the cap and 1mil over the cap when vas goes on ltir, and along with the fallout on the cap because of the Bally sports bankruptcy it's easy to see why they're not extending Stamkos. No one wants to make the same stupid mistake Sakic made giving Mack the extension he did knowing the league only had a 2% chance of raising the cap this year and watching a bunch good players walk away, or using their ltir to store Landeskog with a fake knee surgery because Landeskog coming off ltir would've left the avs with 3mil to fill 7 roster spots
