Inside today’s Locked on Canadiens
The Habs and Leafs played two games over the course of Friday and Saturday, with the Habs losing both in very different, but somehow similar fashion overall. Scott has the recap of what went wrong, and what sort of went right for you to kick off the show.
Part of the Habs dismal efforts over the course of two nights is once again the feeble power play group, which went 0/11 for the weekend, and was hilariously outscored by the Habs penalty killers. With the next step forward in the rebuild hinging heavily on the Canadiens getting a functioning power play, Scott has some solution to help tweak a system that clearly isn’t working.
Finally, after bringing 73 bodies to training camp, the Montreal Canadiens began their cuts in earnest, trimming the camp down to 33 players by the time of this show recording. That includes 2023 first round pick David Reinbacher heading back to Europe, and Owen Beck heading to the OHL. It also means that the standout play of William Trudeau and Joshua Roy wasn’t enough to steal a roster spot…Yet. Scott takes a look at what the plan might be for the young prospects, and who is left battling for spots in the NHL.

The Habs had most of their regular players and the leafs had none and they were destroyed by the Leafs. Also we don't have a goalie so the habs might win 20 games this season at best
Yup look at Gtez behind the net. Master class at it
You may as well carry 3 – play Monty and Primeau 50/50 for a month, scratch Allen and see what happens. Trading Primeau or Allen right now isn't going to net the Habs anything of value.
Hey Scott a good show would be a prediction of the laval rocket lineup, as with the big club looks like there are a lot of forwards and not a lot of spaces
Pre-season games are meant to evaluate players not win meaningless games. Once the numbers are down to a workable size fine tuning on special teams can be properly worked on to get ready for the season.
do not loose focus, MTL are in a rebuild and that will and must take the time it will take despite the fan and medias pressures. Rome was not built in one day. NHL is not Junior hockey nore AHL hockey. The step is high and European players must addapt to the smaller rink sizes the game is faster with less room to manoeuver. Can we be patient enough to lend a helping hand to those new players? of course correcting mistakes takes a certain time but a player need to learn and understand also stop repeating the same mistakes. show progress in your game. Montreal has not yet replaces Guy Lafleur dispite the talented players who have signed lucritive contracts. yes the game has changed since the flour days. BUT his skills have not yet been matched.Lets keep grounded and cheer encoouraging the players not booing them can montreal fans understand this?
I think it's probably best they send the kids down to the AHL and back to their respective leagues. There is no point in rushing the players to the NHL. Let them prove themselves before handing them the job. There is already an NHL roster that by the look of it, need a couple of games of preseason practice as a team. If they need call ups because of suckage, then the guys are just a few metro stops away. Allow them to be there from the start of Rocket Camp to establish themselves as a team, stand up for each other an feel like part of something, rather than a last cut.
I'm not making the pre season judge what's happening GO HABS GO 💕relax everyone the season is going to be long, let's try and be positive we'll do better with a little positive GO HABS GO 💕
Proof Laval is the place to devel;opp those younger new players. The equation: '' If you can not impose yourself in AHL Laval, how do you think you are going to shine in the NHL? '' DReamers dream, takes a dream to realise that dream we all agree ? BUT Learn to walk before you can run. do not dream the imposssible. learning to play heads up in the NHL is a must skill to know otherwise you can be on that injury list and your career will not last long in the NHL. Slavosky BIG frame but still 19 and must not forget this. He lacks the skill to play heads up hockey we can all see this. This is not none contact hockey in the NHL. I still think they might be pushing Slavkosky hoping he can stay this season in MTL BUT unless he learns to play heads up there is a danger he end up like Eric Lindros??? remember that great big body player? we should never forget how his career ended. If they like Slav help him help himself for most european players do not have those skills even Canadian players do not all master the heads up side of the game. It is called peripheral view of the game.that is not a skill you are born with maybe a small percentage of players that make the NHL have it.?
Evryone blame Barron on that goal but for some reason nobody is talking about Reinbacher being completely out of position on the play. Sure Barron messed up but that should have be a 2 on 1 if Reinbacher had not been so completely out of position.
