Crazy dudes can walk into camp after a full long summer off and not be in shape at an NHL level

He realistically needs to put on a lot more muscle to be a full time NHLer, especially with the Canucks who already have an undersized LHD on the roster.

That’s massively disappointing, these guys have all the resources but obviously he didn’t have the commitment. He’s got all the tools to make this team, he should have worked harder.

What else is the Coach going to say? “Dudes great but we’re going with the Chaos giraffe?”
It’s a nice motivational quote for Hirose to keep working and focus on upping his fitness and strength.
There’s a lot being read into nothing.

As disappointing as this sounds, I think management is high on him and they want him eating a lot of minutes in a top pairing role in the A for one season before slotting him in next season. That and Tocchet probably doesn’t think he can survive a full season at his current build.

guy is a 6-foot-something beanpole, it’s likely they want him to add more weight.

Probably just didn’t add enough strength and/or muscle. I can’t imagine it was his cardio.

I dunno if bulk is the issue, I mean. Petey has been 140 pounds his entire time here. If you’re good enough you’re good enough. But I guess it’s different for a defender. So I am probably wrong.

Ah yes, wasn’t this the year where the team decided that they were going to come into the season in-shape and prepared for like the first time ever?
GangreneMachine
I’d keep Hirose in Abby and get him top pairing minutes to develop and put on strength.

It’s bulking season

It just screams “waiver exempt” to me. Same with Raty, probably, although the competition at forward is much stiffer.

Also a [video of Mikheyev](https://x.com/patersonjeff/status/1708564896689123775?s=46&t=7fabqgtgp69dNA1d51vxFw) skating this morning, still in a non-contact jersey but looking good.
