Sharks 2020 Offseason Outlook: Goaltenders

The San Jose Sharks enter the 2020 offseason after consecutive seasons with sub-par goaltending. Martin Jones has four years left on his contract, while Aaron Dell is a UFA. How will newcomer Alexei Melnichuk slot into the organization? Is there a possibility team teal brings in a free agent or acquires a netminder in a trade? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Corrections:
• At 1:40 I mentioned the Sharks coaching staff being fired, but I meant to clarify that Boughner was retained in order to assume the interim head coach role.
• At 4:08 the stat I meant to convey was a -2.84 Goals Saved Above Average.

  1. Quite late haven’t been able to watch it. But I know it’s going to be a great video

  2. No Tendy this year sadly. I agree we resign the players we need like Labanc, Jumbo, Gambrell, Neosen, Kellman and maybe let Melker walk. But let Antti Soumela, Jacob Middleton, Tim Heed, Brandon Davidson, Deller and Prout walk. If we let those player walk that would clear up 6m in salary to go out and sign as decent foward or some depth players for our offence. And you could find extra salary letting some of the Cuda players walk. I think Melnichuk will do wonders under one of the greatest Russian Goalies of all-time! As the affect showed on jones at the end of the season.

  3. I find goaltending to be linked with team defense. For instance the Islanders goalies looked a lot better when Trotz took over. Get your team to commit to a better defensive game, and the goalie stats will improve as well.

  4. Signing Dell with a pay bump to a one year "show me" deal and kicking the can down the road does feel very Doug Wilson to me. Similar to a LaBanc situation.
