Great show as always! Thanks for making a tough season a lot less painful
I totally agree with u guys on sports talk. I live in Denver, where we have odds on Cup favorites-on pace for 2nd best record in NHL history…& a pretty damn good NBA team-Nuggets,with last yrs NBA MVP…who probably aren't a title contender this year, cuz our 2nd best(Jamal Murray),& 3rd best players,(MPJ)-have essentially been out this yr,& likely won't be themselves til next yr. But still an exciting, playoff bound team-whos overachieved this season, considering the injuries,at worst have a high ceiling,& will be a tough out, when those 2 come back. And a likely legit contender next season.
But unless you are talking about the station that covers the Avs,& Nugget games-,but not the Broncos,& Rockies-these sports shows still spend 98% of their time, talking about our mediocre NFL teams off-season-who haven't made the playoffs since winning SB 50,after 2015 season. Don't get me wrong,I love football,& the Broncos…but even when they are good,I don't wanna hear Broncos or NFL-24 hrs a day, ESPECIALLY in late February. But even during the NFL season it's excessive. I used to listen to a bunch of sports talk, but rarely do now. I listen to far more podcasts/you tube.
Even today, the Avs just won in Vegas, arguably our #1 rival,Nuggets won a crazy game,Colorado St basketball won,& seems a lock for the tournament,& Colorado basketball beat #2 Arizona. I don't expect no Broncos talk…but maybe mention those other far more relevant,& compelling teams,at least right now. Instead we get 90% Broncos, like 9% talking bout our bad baseball team, the ridiculous lockout,& maybe 1% on the rest combined. There are other local teams we care about.
BTW-as a Colorado fan,& native-I'm a subscriber to you,as I found you after an Avs-Sharks game, last year I think it was. But I keep listening cuz you guys are great…you crack me up,& I love that you're realistic,& honest about the Sharks, even though you pull for them,as you totally should. It is possible to pull for a team, but not be a shameless homer. To be fair,& realistic…but at the same time optimistic, hopeful,& root for them! Without trying to con the fans,or be flat out delusional. Your hockey knowledge is very good,& I really enjoy the show, even though I have no dog in this fight. I actually listen to you guys, probably more than I listen to Denver sports radio-lol.
Of course I have to listen to our games on radio, since we've had this ludicrous COMCAST,& DISH Network pissing contest, contract dispute, that has literally meant like half of Denver-Colorado even,I think-has no way of watching Av or Nug games, for like 3 yrs now. Unless it's on ESPN,or TNT. But keep up the great work…Sharks will be back in a few yrs,& you guys do an awesome job.
Scott Reedy is slowly becoming my favorite shark
Going to have to disagree with y'all about why there shouldn't be a concern for Reimer's goalie streak going on 8 games (including tomorrow's game against Vegas). He's signed as a goalie sharing duties, and is going on 34 years old. It's commendable that he's played so well to keep the team in games, but they're running the risk of grinding him deep like they did with Martin Jones. Last night's game against Seattle was the perfect time to start Sawchenko and give Reimer a rest – especially he'll go up against better teams in the next few weeks whichinclude Florida, Vegas and Nashville. Who is to say Sawchenko wouldn't have played poorly against Seattle? This season is a lost, so why not just start him and see how he plays in the NHL?
the PP has been kind to LC. he's a distant 3rd to Hertl/Meier in both xG and G.
Also gotta disagree with your comments about Reimer's game streak. Your own numbers (regarding games played by goalies) I think betray you, since you said Jones played 34/56, 41/70, 62/82.. that's 58-75% of games played. A really heavily played goalie usually puts in mid 60's for games played. Thats, at best, 80% or 4 out of 5 games played on average. Obviously that's an average, but it does mean that a healthy workload for a goalie playing A LOT is 4 out of 5 games. When in reality, most goalies don't even hit the 60's mark. So yea, maybe you push it on a hot streak to 8 games or 12 games, but let's not pretend that going 12 in a row isn't noteworthy. And that being said, you take the "easy games" to play the backup to balance the workload. Or, I guess you just "ride the Reimer train as long as it keeps going" and you break him
