Really think the Sabres need to trade for a veteran goaltender to go with Levi. Don’t think UPL is the guy. Maybe someone like Gibson would be nice
Boys looked tired and uninterested in the 3rd. UPL needs to be clutch once in a while. Kisakov struggled with his decision making. Buddy needs to shoot if he has a wide open net 😂😂😂 Whenever I saw Olofsson I was wishing Benson was playing instead.
Cooley looked good in net the other day vs Boston.
Any chance he could be a possibility?
If not, time for GMKA needs to find a viable back-up.
UPL is terrible on breakaways and shootouts.
Not a good game from Power. He still needs to bring more physicality to his game. He is a huge kid, use your size more!

Cozens was the best Sabre out there.
What was kisakov thinking, twice he had 2 tap in goals and he passed the puck! One led to a leafs goal! 😡 Sabres threw maybe 4 hits all game!
Olofsson was INVISIBLE please trade him asap! The first leafs goal was BRUTAL, UPL looked shaky on it! Ive been saying this since May im not confident going into the season with Levi and UPL or Comrie as backup . Im praying Adams trades for a veteran goalie Gibson, Hart , or Demko would be nice .
The biggest reason I’m not worried… only a small handful of players do I eve expect to cut the squad… or even have NHL experience… Cozens, UPL, Power and Joki are the only ones that I think have a decent shot (not sold on UPL.. that first goal he gave up he should have stopped and he over played the breakaway for the second).. most of the rest… training camp tryouts… not real worried.. it’s the last week of pre-season that I’ll take more stock.. then half of the guys have been shipped back to JRs. or europe or the AHL/ECHL teams… and we’re down to just a few final cuts…

From what I saw Cozen was the only one who looked ready for the season.

If Powers wants an extension now i want to see more Physical play out of him. With his size he has to show me that. Hopefully im the next year or two that will come more. UPL has to he the worst shootout goalies ive ever seen. Someone mentioned that also. His movement from side to side or horrible. He should have developed more by now. What the hell was he doing in the off season
I will fill you in on some things I noticed Wayne. Jeremy Davies had another great game, and Ryan Johnson was impressive! The prospects aren't really popping out there but that was kind of expected. I will say Kisikov messed up really bad 2 times with overpassing (first was an open goal that he passed it away that resulted in TOR scoring on the transition and then he did it again when he should have shot. UPL let in his usual 3 goals but this time in 2 periods. I would have said, due to the shot attempts TOR had that is not bad, but 2 were on 2 breakaways and I am confident Levi or Cooley would have stopped atleast one of them. The real test for me is the Pittsburg game. All of Pitts big names will be playing tomorrow.
I still think we are too soft across the entire organization. I listened to the game and we had no fight in us. Teams will continue to expose us in that area I fear
Hate to just write off a game, but this wasn't close to our actual roster. I'm not going to let it bug me too much. I'll go even further and defend UPL a bit. He got left out to dry, and two goals were back to back breakaways. Let's hold our judgment till we see the full squad.
Good news no injuries tonight only hurt feelings preseason or regular season I hate losing to the leafs.

That game was garbage. Outshot something like 41-15. UPL looked like he should be waived. Offense was nonexistent. Olafsson was invisible. It wasn’t like Matthews and Marner were playing.
Toronto did have more of their regulars than Buffalo. So there is that. Similar to Buffalo last night when they beat Boston who did not have their regulars in the lineup. I really am starting to question UPL, especially after seeing just how good Levi looked last night. But I'll reserve final judgement until after some regular season games.
I noticed they played most rookies tonight.

I don’t think it was a lack of effort, they just passed waaaaaaay too much. And that’s now you get shorthanded goals scored on you. UPL is so hit or miss, we just can’t count on him. Good thing it’s just preseason. We will look much different and much better come the regular season 🙂

It's ok, Don wanted to look at some prospects that may not get another chance to show… whether they did or not only Don knows… he surely sees things we can't… look at Tage… and Florida didn't want Levi… Don and HMKA did… the wheels never quit turning… outside the box will get us the Cup..
It’s time to pick up a real goalie, ditch UPL, I want the cup, that’s all that matters! This isn’t little league baseball where even bad players get a chance! I don’t care if it hurts his feelings, too bad, pick up a veteran goalie for at least 1 year. We could afford any goalie in the league for one season to win a cup!
I was at work and listening on the radio, (when I was in ears reach) seemed like every couple of minutes the signal would cut out for 5 to 10 seconds. I guess it's preseason even for the media lol. Anyhow, I think as far as the game goes, it's 4 games in 5 nights. It's preseason and I don't expect our team to win every game. I just believe they make the right assessment of the players for Buffalo and Rochester, and I believe they will. I'm just glad hockey is here again and getting more in the limelight but for gods sake, Fix the transmission please 😎👍🏒
You can count upl to allow 3 goals a game. So true. He's the one I'm worried about the most going into the season
