Sounds like Stevie cares about the welfare of the players. Doing Zadina a solid.
If the kid wants a change of scenery and there's no trade partner, then this is the path forward. Still hoping he clears waivers, cracks the lineup this fall, and has a breakout season. If he's claimed then good luck to him, hopefully new surroundings work out. Clearly Yzerman has given him chances in Detroit and they've not worked out the way we'd all like.
Somebody will pick him up and take a chance
Yzerman has swung and missed on several 1st round picks in his career as a general manager.
Not much of a trade market for the NHL this summer with the flat cap.
This is why Yzerman doesn't care what you think on draft day. Holland and Wings fans were absolutely giddy to get him and now look….When Yzerman does something I'm not expecting I'm actually happy to see it because if he did everything I would do the team would be pretty bad.
Nashville will claim Zadina.
Late birthday CHLer who played in a weak Q. In his 17 year old season, just 18 points in 20 games in the Czech U20. That's nowhere close to top 10 or even 1st round. Extra year allows him to stat pad and inflate his resume. Fans, scouts, GMs were all fooled. And this is a player who floats, unlike Timo Meier, who at least goes to dirty areas when he isn't getting his points.
No mike…
St. Helene is cringe af
Short answer, he’s garbage.
Zadina might be more tradeable if he clears waivers. An interested team isn't going to give up an asset for a player they might in all likely hood have to send down and lose on waivers. After clearing waivers, Zadina is a good risk for another team. If he doesn't crack the lineup, I think all but about 750,000 is "burriable" in terms of Cap hit if they send him to the AHL. At least, that's how I understand waiver rules and the cap.
I remember an off-season or two ago looking at Helene's retrospectives on recent Red Wings drafts. One thing listed for each player was "who we could have had", the other player still available at the time who in hindsight would have been the best pick. Going through the pre-2019 drafts, I noticed that the player we could have had was often a Tampa Bay draft pick.
Obviously, I agree with what Yzerman said here that no one can always get the best picks. But I remain confident that with Yzerman as GM, we will still get the right picks much more often than most other GMs.
In other words, I still trust the Yzerplan.
If you go back to the 2018, the Detroit Red Wings were planning to draft Quinn Hughes. But when Zadina was still available at 6th, Detroit couldn't resist taking him. Zadina was ranked the 3rd best prospect in the draft so the Wings assumed he wouldn't be available. Drafting Zadina over Hughes has to rank as one of Detroit's worst mistakes in the past 10 years.
He was an EPIC BUST. That's why he's gone.
Trust the process #Yzerplan
I hope he stay a Wing, I definitely see potential. Just needs to be healthy and get some consistent ice time without switching lines all the time like under Blashill. Hopefully Filip is motivated to work his butt off and win a spot on the roster. On a separate note, SY is GM I'd like to play for. Definitely seems to care about the players that he signs.
Steve Yserman is to say something about this… The USA needs to support the American gun lobby and the economy by promoting the militaristic vogue of owning American guns in Taiwan. Firearms should be fashionable and accessible to all children and adults in Taiwan! Machine guns, grenade launchers, MANPADS and Javelins in Taiwan should be available under a cheap license with adult education only. This will make Taiwan much more armed and defensive! (Here the interests of the USA and Taiwan completely coincide!) The American Republicans do not want to do this. Americans, Vote Democrat! Despite the criticism of American Republicans, in the USA the law has more power than the personal interests of the oligarchs. USA lives by the laws! You see that American courts, the FBI and prosecutors are publicly investigating the activities of even American presidents and their children without the threat of dissolution. (The American media talk about this without the threat of a ban on their activities!) For example, the activities of Donald Trump are under investigation, Hunter Biden pleaded guilty in court and was punished by law! In the US, impeachment of a negligent president is possible. All this is a fantasy for today's Russia, where the interests of the oligarchs are above the law and the impeachment of the president is impossible! It is high time for Russia to impeach Putin and publicly investigate the activities of his ruling clan, but his ruling group categorically does not want to leave power. Putin's ruling oligarchy has crushed the entire opposition in Russia, even violating Russian laws! Therefore, Putin's United Russia party has become a political monopoly in Russia. For example, in the Kaliningrad gubernatorial "elections" in Russia in 2022, opposition candidates were inactive against the Kremlin protege Anton Alikhanov, so Alikhanov again "won" the elections without competition and resistance! (With the full connivance of the Russian prosecutor's offices, the FSB, the courts, the police, the media, society, election commissions and the opposition.) This is no longer an election, but a re-appointment and seizure of power by a group of people by prior conspiracy! But the results of these Kaliningrad "elections" in 2022 have not been canceled, the "governor" of the Kaliningrad region Alikhanov has not been fired. (Moreover, the Kremlin is now finishing off Russia's opposition parties at the hands of the FSB, police, prosecutors and bought party traitors so that they cannot compete with Putin's "United Russia" in the 2024 elections and Putin continued his illegal rule without the threat of impeachment.) He and those who played “competing opposition” candidates are on his side, the head of the Kaliningrad Regional Electoral Commission has not been sent to prison, new gubernatorial elections in that region have not been scheduled! (Therefore, you need not be surprised at Prigozhin’s rebellion against the lawlessness of the oligarchs and their henchmen in Russia.) Anton Alikhanov has not zeroed out inflation in the Kaliningrad region, is not building factories and raising minimum wages and pensions there after the illegal “victory” in the 2022 “elections”. This example of today's anti-national Kremlin dictatorship is not investigated by Republican media! What does it mean? The American Republican Party must contribute at least ten percent to the Russian Putin Support Committee (Fund) or the Republicans may stop winning elections! The Republicans can negotiate with Roman Putin about this. We can remember the sins of the Republican Party! It will drown the Republican candidates in the US elections. But Putin and the Republican Party are friends! The Republican Party should pay for true friendship. This is friendship, but not an attempt to collect tribute from Putin's "sect"! Moreover, thanks to the ruling American Republicans for the absence of the Russian magazine “Russia China”, the “Association of Independent Directors and Producers of Russia”, the Development Fund “Unity and Faith”, the All-Russian Popular Front, cultural blogger and journalist Svetlana Tarasova, information observer "Real Russia", the Guild of Russian Playwrights, the Organizing Committee of the National Award for Children's Patriotic Creativity, the Eurasian Institute of Youth Initiatives, the World Russia online publication, the Moda media holding and Rossport. (From Russia with love.) Moreover, it is time for Great America to think about a beautiful end to the Ukrainian war! In addition to this, discrimination against LGBT+ people in the USA even happens on the highways, resulting in traffic accidents. Therefore, Great America needs to legalize an additional fine (at least five million dollars) from the perpetrators of an accident where LGBT+ people suffered! Half of this fine should go to the victim, the other half – to the US federal budget. Moreover, the perpetrator of such an incident must pay for the medical insurance of the victim for ten years according to the court's verdict! This is how the USA will show care for LGBT+ people, replenish the budget and reduce discrimination. The same care is needed for oppressed Black Americans! Moreover, the US Supreme Court has limited the protection of LGBT+ rights in the US for the sake of Christians. Why doesn't Christian charity extend to LGBT+ people? (Is it acceptable to consider as true Christians those who do not have mercy for oppressed people and social groups?) I believe that the Supreme Court is guilty of discrimination against LGBT+ people on the basis of this court verdict! This judgment is a Republican victory over American rights. If the American Nation does not want to become disenfranchised, then Americans should organize rallies in all states against the arbitrariness of the powerful Republicans! If Americans will condone the attempts of Republican politicians to turn Americans into disenfranchised slaves, then slavery will be in the USA. The fate of the American Nation is in the hands of the Americans! It is unacceptable to allow local American Republican dictators to destroy the American Constitution, human rights, Liberty in Law and other social achievements of Great America. It's time for the Democratic Party, the Biden administration, the Democratic media and American civil society organizations to take notice and act! They can organize an anti-Republican Resistance to preserve the rights and freedoms of Americans. Ask Steve Yzerman about!
Bout time he cut bait. Great. Now get DeBrinkat and call it a roster. Next year dtaft some F'ing Russians.
Zadina was clearly a bust from the beginning. Just a bad pick by Yzerman, one of very few so far BTW. Zadina always struck me as a hard worker but hard work is always enough and it wasn't in his case. He seemed undersized with a shot that didn't fool any goalies. He got better on defense but he had a long way to get to NHL level. He seemd like he was easy to knock out of the way too. We'll see, maybe he'll find himself in another system and end up filling the Habs net with pucks after all. Glad to finally put this Red Wings experiment to bed though. Best of luck kid! He is only 23 right?!
And now, he jumps to San Jose for a shorter term, 1 year, and less money 1.1 million dollars, because of how he’s trying to build something in his hockey career.
As a Wings fan, ya gotta respect that. 🫡
Good luck man.
Just, if you finally find that groove, don’t punish us too bad when our teams meet.
Might have a better opportunity on a cellar dweller Shark team.
