Will both Broberg and Holloway make the Oilers’ roster?

TSN Oilers reporter Ryan Rishaug joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss Edmonton’s potential new top defensive pairing of Evan Bouchard and Darnell Nurse, how Connor Brown has looked at training camp, if he sees Dylan Holloway or Philip Broberg making the team, and more.

  1. Not crazy about playing the Canucks 3 times in like the first 10 games of the season and done…. just not a great idea.

  2. Rishaug thinks he knows the Oil. Guy covers the team and misses so many subtle coaching Tweeks and moves.

  3. Not just Edmonton all across league you see players can they make next jump.
Greig,Holtz,Heinola,Perfetti,Slavkovsky,Wright,Nemec/Hughes,Zary,Jiricek,Byfield,even guys like kakko/Lafreneire/Schneider,Levi,Clarke,Rossi,Turcotte,podkolzin/hoglander,Lysell alot more and if teams imo are contenders or give up on guys can be flipped for players who will help rn.

  4. Sounds messed up but I think they want to show a defense and a winter for some trade value at the deadline so with that I think there both making the team

  5. Broberg spent the better half of last season with the team and really spent minimal time in the minors. Can't see how he doesn't make it unless he's traded, the kid has got good underlying numbers and is responsible with the puck. For a 22 year old defenseman I'm not sure you should expect that much more.

Holloway on the other hand is a big question mark, too good for the AHL but mediocre at the NHL level so far. Leave the spot open for him and demote back to the AHL if he's not earning the minutes.

  6. "Oilers will carry only 21 skaters on a 23 man roster." Come on Ryan, is that some of your specialty math showing again?
