Was there 2 games at the same time?

I’m new to Hockey, started watching Christmas 2021, so I don’t yet understand everything. I saw 2 games for last night on the schedule, but assumed it was some time zone thing.

I watched Calgary lose to Seattle and was surprised to see stuff about them winning on Twitter. How does this work? Two games against the same team at the same time? I’m super confused.

Yep they split their teams up in half two different games tonight

At the start of the preseason, a split squad game or two is common. Half our team played in Calgary, half our team played in Seattle. Vladar was in net. It gives more guys a chance to play at an NHL pace to see who makes the cut before the season starts.

Since during pre season we have way more players than the standard roster limit of 23 we have enough prospects/ veteran players to form 2 teams at once. It gives everyone a chance to play and allows management to evaluate more players at once.

Yes, but only the game in Seattle counts.
