  1. When you consider he scored 115 points during this same season and was out there taking on heavyweights like McSorely without hesitation it really adds perspective to just how good he was. I didn't care for him too much in the beginning because of his refusal to sign with Quebec but once he had a couple of years in the league I let that bias go. Many forget that he is also the reason that Colorado (formerly the Nordiques) got their start as a powerhouse because his refusal to sign with Quebec ended up resulting in Peter Forsberg signinq with them instead.

  2. When it comes to fighting in hockey, was there anyone in the history of the game who was more physically prepared for it? He had a gas tank for days.

  3. Lindros was a beast until concussions shortened his career. I vividly remember a playoff series vs. the Rangers around 96-97 – Messier had the puck and Lindros just took it away and used body positioning to shield it, go up ice and score – he made Messier look like a little kid in comparison – and Messier was EXTREMELY STRONG ON HIS SKATES…..he was literally manhandled by Eric.

  4. great example here….Heavy weights fighting each other with no tie downs is one thing but did not like seeing a fighter fight, completely willing participants mind you who had their jersey tied down…. as a leaf fan, i love/hated seeing Wendel and Probert go at it…6'4 vs 5'11 not sure the reach but thats already a big disadvantage.

  5. Marty's a cardiovascular freak and just like the energizer bunny he just keeps going, and going. He wins a lot of fights because of his stamina.

  6. I love lindros…. I often wondered if he was on roids? He was 22 here already losing his hair wtf?

  7. The only way for Marty to win a fight was to lose his jersey so no one could grab a hold of him, If his jersey would stay on Lindros would have destroyed him.

  8. McSorley was an embarrassment. Stripping out of his gear to gain an advantage. Thought he was supposed to be tough?!?

  9. As far as I'm concerned, Lindros was 1 point plus per game as a player. As a fighter, he would take on anybody! McSorley was just a freaking goon and, as we saw, also a cheap shot piece of crap!

  10. What a total loser McSorley was. All this idiot could do was to skate around and try to find somebody to fight with….a goon and a moron.

  11. Any hockey player back then who fought and made it so his jersey slips off that easy is a damm cheater, exspecialy if the other fighters jersey is still on come on like rob bareback ray and this tool mcsorry loser

  12. Dangerous how the linesman (#98) tried to break it up. Grabbed Marty's arm. Lindros saw that and could have popped Marty but chose to do a very classy thing and refrain from it. Both good ole' boys!!

  13. Two great players going knuckle to knuckle. I wish Eric had a longer career and it would have been nice to see him in Toronto. Two good Canadian boys

  14. Lindros is really powerful, he kept pushing back mcsorley and still taking shots. If only he knew how to fight.

  15. These guys who shed their gear are cheating in a way. Having said that, it doesn't take away from their skills. The other guys could & should do the same. Rob Ray was the the most frequent offender, along w/Probie obviously & McSorely. Great fighters all, but I would rather see a more fair fight. Nobody likes the "hold on to the other guy's right hand for dear life" wrestling matches – so stand back and throw hands if you dropped your mitts. To me, screw the instigator rule – the 1st guy who grabs onto the other gets an extra 2 minutes.

  16. McSorely was a real stupid goon. I was ashamed at his tactics as a L.A. King. Gretzky can never justify McSorely's behavior. I'll be thrilled if fighting is ever expunged from the NHL so I won't have to watch his kind.

  17. When Eric’s head comes up. Lights go out! Scott Stevens saw that coming. Hate to say it but the younger brother was better, just smaller. Man when parents promo their kids, sad,. Could have won a cup if he went to Quebec!

  18. McSorley was a tactical genius in fights, especially before the tied down sweater era. He knew how to really tie a guy up and then fire away.
