The Toronto Maple Leafs made a huge signing today adding goaltender Martin Jones to their rotation at a price tag of only $875,000. Will he crack the opening night roster or will a highly touted prospect take his spot? KC breaks down this big signing going into the 2023-24 season and much more in this episode of Hat Trick HQ.

Good signing for a 3rd goalie . He has a winning record playing on a bad team .for that price you can't go wrong .rooting for him
Huge signing? Not really.
You a fan of the Leafs or just hockey in general?
The only way this works is if Joseph Woll is waiver exempt, otherwise the leafs are carrying three goalies all year
Jones was one of the hottest goalies in the league for about a month of the season with the Kraken last year, served me well for a while in fantasy hockey. KC knows
Sabres have the best 1-2-3 Goalie situation I believe
The best 1-2-3 goalie tandem in the league? I literally spit out my coffee, I did not expect to hear something so delusional so early in the morning.
1) Samsonov isn't that good, maybe a decent backup AT MOST. His up and down season added with his terrible playoffs shows that. So good he had to go to arbitration because the Leafs didn't want to pay him. Not a brick wall, maybe tough drywall.
2) Woll had good numbers in his small sample size, but that's it. Maybe he becomes a solid starter, maybe not.
3) Martin Freakin' Jones…he was basically out of the league at the end of his San Jose stint. Signed with the Flyers for a comeback and played poorly in front of a poor team. Then goes to Seattle because no one else wanted him, but won some games. The problem is he didn't play that well, he played just good enough for the team in front of him to win. Same thing for Grubauer.
Toronto doesn't even have a better 1-2-3 goalie tandem than the Flyers AND that says A LOT. Once again Toronto's biggest weakness is going to come down to goaltending and weak team defense. Maybe they repeat their miracle season by making the 2nd round again. This season is their last chance to make a splash or start over.
Very good signing by Treliving and cheap price
Hey Leafs management, you're not that creative so I'll give you some game changing advice for free; trade Nylander for a 1st and a smooth skating steady, stay at home D-man with a big ass for burying opponents. Acquire on the cheap, Jesse Puljujarvi, Jonathan Toews and Callan Foote and this team can challenge.
The Leafs are going to need more than mediocre goaltending. LOL
