Based on how bad the refs have been I'm surprised an arm went up.
I thought it was going to be intentional cause of the title, but nah he was just following threw on the pass. Unfortunately he got him with the high stick. The guy even tried to avoid falling on him. You should’ve titled it “terribly unfortunate high stick leaves merkly badly cut.” I swear your title guy got into some really good legalized pot.

"Spears" is probably not the best word to describe this action, as "spearing" (when related to hockey) is usually used to describe an intentional action, which this clearly was not.
