Cam Talbot Traded to Flyers for Anthony Stolarz

Well, Talbot is a Flyer. That’s how many goalies for them this season?

  1. I feel bad for Stolarz, he finally gets his shot at being a number one goalie but it's for a train wreck organization, he'll be washed up in no time

  2. Why are you guys always looking to "win" trades? How about accept that both teams get what they want. Otherwise they wouldn't have made the trade.
The whole "who wins trades?" mentality is so annoying. Try to win games instead.

  3. How does edmonton win this? Lmao Stolarz isn't going to be anything they ruined talbot but he's better then this guy.

  4. Elliot, neuvy will be gone after this season. Hart/Talbot next year. Talbot will probably be replaced by Sandstrom in 2-3yrs.

  5. The oil needed to shed salary to activate Sekera from IR after his conditioning stint with the Condors, so really a trade that had to happen after that Koskinen contract

  6. Can see this work out for both sides. Cam Talbot needed a change of scenery and Anthony Stolarz is being banked on potential. Philadelphia has a veteran back-up that's proven if Carter Hart has taken the net. With Edmonton giving the net to Mikko Koskinen, Anthony Stolarz is another young goalie that is still finding his way. Philadelphia will be shipping goalies when more get healthy like Brian Elliott.

  7. You did miss one point – Stolarz has to play at least 30 minutes in at least 10 more games this season or he becomes a Group 6 UFA at the end of the season.

  8. Stolarz would have walked anyways, may as well trade him for another rental goalie who can mentor Hart.

  9. Well there goes your "Hitchcock isn't the type of guys to showcase a player" theory.

You are probably still right though. Hitch probably didn't want to and would have been told my the GM to do so.

  10. i think the flyers got rid of Stolarz because they dont see him as part of the future in philly with the amount of goalie prospects that they have (sandstrom, ersson, ustimenko)

  11. Is this the hockey gods karma , McDavid wastes his prime years because of those monster 80s oilers teams? is Ottawa even less organised than E – town , or are oilers the worst Canadian team? Something's gotta change

  12. The best thing about stolarz is he’s friggin huge! And still decently young. Isn’t he like 6’5” or 6’6”, just on surface area infront of the net, he should do better then what they have had.

  13. Talbot is the big winner of this trade. He'll follow in Dubnyk's footsteps and rejuvinate his career. Carey Price would get destroyed if he played in Edmonton, and the fans would run him out of town the same way.

  14. Stoli has a grand opportunity in Edmonton since there really isn't many guys in front of him. Part of the problem in Philly is just had so many goalies which isn't necessarily a bad problem to have but for young goalies trying to break into the league, you really have to show some flashes of brilliance and/or hope one of the older guys whos down with injury and thus clearing up some space for you.
Philly on the otherhand gets a veteran goalie who can provide extra mentoring for Carter Hart and if Talbot isn't that great, well, his contract expires at the end of the season so more cap space…

  15. COLEY FOLEY SAYS: THIS IS AWESOME, FUCKIN "CAM TALBOT" IS A FUCKIN MONSTER… (IT'S NOT HIS FAULT "EDMONTON" FUCKIN SUCKS THIS YEAR.) "AGE" IS A NON-ISSUE, BUT THERE IS A BELIEF THAT WHEN A SPORTS FIGURE REACHES A CERTAIN ONE HE SHOULD "RETIRE"… (THAT'S BULLSHIT.)

  16. – The Flyers have had an alarming rotation of goaltenders this season, but now with Carter Hart essentially cementing himself as their future in goal, Talbot can simply come in and mentor the youngster going forward. Plus, Talbot is probably happy to be out of the situation in Edmonton and now on a Flyers team that's suddenly making a surge in the East standings. Essentially, barring anymore injuries, Hart and Talbot should finally provide some stability in the Flyers' net going forward.

  17. Looking back at this, the Oilers lost this trade😂, although Stolarz was with us longer than Cam was in Philly I think
