Tampa's reign is over, they need to rebuild while they can. Start trading their players this season, or their players have to take a hometown discount to stay with Tampa.

If the Flames could sign Stamkos, that would be massive! Not only would they finally have a proper captain to replace Giordano, but they might have a player who would make more players want to stay in Calgary.

The contract will obviously get done, hopefully sooner now that stamkos acted like that in the interview. Emotionally I want this done as soon as possible, but objectively brisebois is making the right decision to wait a bit to see how the season goes, that’s why he’s one of the best in the business.

Vegas just won a cup by trading players no matter how the player in question or the fans felt about it, and everybody celebrated their approach. Now we're back to acting like management's emotional connection to their players is the most important thing. And most people chose to side with Mike Babcock when it came out that he'd done something in Columbus, just in case it was nothing. This in a league with a long, long history of abusive, even criminal, behaviour by people in authority. Hell. We even had Alan Eagleson, the player union president, stealing from the union and even stealing Bobby Orr's retirement savings. And he was never even investigated by Canadian law enforcement, much less charged, convicted and imprisoned, like he was by US officials. You guys talk like a bunch of woke young guys with no life experience. Wait till your dream job turns out to include an group of malignant narcissists for management. Just wait till you get old and have lots of experience to look back on.

i kinda hate how guys like stammer act as if their hands are tied in situations like this. he’s made $117M over his career – if he wants to stay he could easily set a good example and play for league minimum, and his kids’ kids’ kids’ will still be super wealthy.

If I were the bolts, I would do maybe 3 more years for stammer for $21 million ($7 million a year). So the lightning can stay competitive and give stamkos the ability to retire with only one team plus stammer once that happens will be right up there with some of the all time greats with goal scoring totals given the pure goal scorer the 2nd best of his generation. He also captained the team to 4 cup finals in less than a decade creating a dynasty from 2015-2023 as a result. I mean this is something we might never see again from the Lightning so they really need to make an aggressive effort to make sure they keep him. Or at least tell him what you thinking and compare and contrast the similarities and differences between both parties. Its kinda crazy that they are using the word "replace" too I mean no one can replace stamkos. Dude is one of the biggest faces of his generation like Ovi, Crosby, the Sedin twins, Kane, Bergeron, etc

Totally agree, Brisebois is trying to wait and see if Stammer gets hurt (bringing his price down) or if someone can replace him. In my opinion, totally insulting to a guy that has bled blue and white, brought two cups and is a future first ballot hall of famer.
